The U.S. Crisis Monitor found that over 93% of BLM protests were peaceful. Deploying the military to handle civil unrest can potentially escalate tensions and lead to unnecessary violence. For instance, the Kent State shootings in 1970, where the National Guard was deployed to handle student protests, resulted in the death of four students and nine injured.
