Should the federal government increase funding of health care for low income individuals (Medicaid)?
No, only wealthy people come from out of country to America, because those are the only people who can afford our healthcare, much less even afford to travel here in the first place. Wealthy people utilize our for-profit system of healthcare simply because they want to be able to pay their way into immediate care, which we allow for some reason.
There are no serious wait times for serious medical issues in universal healthcare nations, because nations with universal healthcare sort their access to healthcare based on need, not by price like we do. People with non-serious medical issues may have wait times on care, but those with serious medical issues obviously receive more immediate care...because that's how it works. Not to mention the fact that people in our current US system today often put off seeking treatment purely due to medical costs, many of whom entirely forego care altogether in order to not be saddled with medical debt. At least having guaranteed care with a wait time is infinitely better than not being able to afford care at all. Our privatized, for-profit system of healthcare is worse in every way for anyone who is not well-off, and that's a problem.
