No but they should do something about healthcare and possibly getting rid of insurance company middlemen and lawyers who drive up premiums on both sides of care. Prices should be market driven. Demand should be decreased by not allowing criminals, drug/alcohol abusers, and self-inflicted behaviors (ie obesity) to abuse the system for free (especially repeat offenders). Govt should provide healthcare education in school and through charitable community resources and libraries. Supply should increase at lower prices by removing a lot of regulations. Why can't a doctor open a simple practice for cash customers? I should be able to walk into a Dr. office and be quoted a fair value price for service without waiting to see what insurance will cover and without insurance deciding what type of care I need. We need more emphasis on preventative healthcare and naturopathic medicine vs. pharma. Maybe gov't should build hospitals, like they build schools, but let doctors operate or co-opt surgical rooms at market prices. Help people help themselves; don't socialize and fund unhealthy behavior. Natural consequences and free-choice in a free market will naturally drive down prices. The only things to regulate are minimally safe, clean, ethical, fair business practices.
