People don’t want to feel guilty about what the people of the past have done but learning about these experiences is the first way to prevent them from happening again

I agree that learning the experience of the other side can be important, one other hand I see, people should feel guilt from the others past experiences as it can give more of a better connection, thus giving more respect for the other side

A major purpose of history is to learn what did not work in the past and to learn from the mistakes of our ancestors. If we choose to ignore some parts of history then those mistakes are bound to happen again in the present/future. We should not be ashamed of the shortcomings of our ancestors but instead, be proud that our country has evolved and conditions are much better compared to how they were back then.
