Israel has "no choice but to retaliate against Iran"

Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant told Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Sunday that Israel has no choice but to respond to the unprecedented missile and drone attack launched by Iran over the weekend, a U.S. official and another source briefed on the call told Axios.

The Biden administration and several other Western countries allied with Israel are urging Benjamin Netanyahu's government not to rush into a retaliation against Iran that could lead to a regional war.

The Israeli war cabinet convened on Monday to discuss Israel's possible response.

Iran launched nearly 350 attack drones and missiles against Israel on April 13 in retaliation for an April 1 Israeli airstrike on its embassy compound in Syria that killed a top Iranian general and others.

He has many choices.

Had Iran attacked first, a response would be necessary. Iran didn't attack first.

As it stands, Iran has sent its message not to attack its consulates, Israel has no major damage, mark it as a draw and move on.

We dont want to fund his war.

It wasn’t a consulate and Iran certainly did attack first. Hamas is a well known Iranian proxy. October 7th happened with their support.

Just as Hezbollah is a directly funded Iranian proxy. They’ve bombed enough northern Israel to displace 60,000 Israelis.

That’s why Iranian generals were in Syria. That’s why Israel targeted them.

Iran has been attacking Israel via proxies for the past 6 months. Israel IN RESPONSE killed the general in charge of activating these proxies. The general was hiding specifically because he received intel that Israel is looking to eliminate him for killing Jews.

Israel has contributed to this escalating crisis, both through its oppression and displacement of Palestinians over generations as well as through provocation of Iran on embassy grounds. Israel has had choices for many years, but they continue to make choices that contribute to instability. The U.S. should not support their escalation and work with partner governments like Jordan to bring the temperature of the region down. If Israel persists, we should stop all military support and only intervene in humanitarian aid capacity.

Very correct! An attempt to destroy another country should not go unanswered. Lloyd Austin needs to know that by the same analogy it is necessary to respond to the terrorist regime of the Kremlin until it is completely destroyed. Otherwise they will destroy civilization!

Is the U.S. gonna have to shell another billion to defend Israel again while Israel spends 1/10th of that? Did Austin remind Gallant that Israel started this with the embassy attack and wanted to instigate a conflict that draws America into the equation?
