"In order to have a well trained militia": proposed owners must prove a relationship to being well trained in order to join, maintain or be a former member of a militia be that scouts, hunt or marksmanship clubs, etc. Assault guns and hand guns are not a legitimate hunting weapon and should be banned. Bolt action rifles, shot guns are legitimate hunting weapons and are ok.

bolt action rifles? you mean like a sniper uses? not hanging around any colleges are you? and shot guns, don't get me started, the shot is designed to spread and hit multiple targets at close range. soldiers have used them in one form or another for centuries, from the blunderbuss to the slam firing pump guns used in WW1 and 2, Korea, Vietnam and beyond. Shotguns are a soldiers weapon, you aren't in a war. if you want dead birds so bad, buy a house cat.
All citizens are in the militia, and the way to be proficient is to own a gun, and shoot often.
