Society's healthcare should have never been privatized to begin with. Private businesses inherently do not operate for the sake of providing for the needs of the public, they operate for the sake of profit; this is a fundamentally anti-societal system that is detrimental to human civilization.

Without regulated drug prices, millions of individuals will go without access to life saving medication such as insulin. Insulin costs about 2-4$ to create, and is sold at more than 200$, this is not fair to anyone who has to use such drug.

Large private businesses have proven time and time again to be untrustworthy. They consistently act to maximize profit, even at the expense of people. Middle and lower-class citizens often cannot afford the medications they need to live. As a result, they either die or live the rest of their life in debt.

The whole reason these medications are as expensive as they are is because of government regulation and IP laws. For example, only three companies are allowed to produce and sell insulin in the United States, despite it being the largest market worldwide. 40 other companies could produce and sell it if government did not allow practices such as evergreening and patent thickening that allow these companies to extend market exclusivity for decades, there would be far more competition. A free market allows constant competition that brings down prices for everyone. Government regulation exists…  Read more

The government should regulate the prices of private businesses position on drugs price because drugs can be very harmful to people.

Life saving drugs will always be of high demand, and are essential for saving a life. This exploits supply and demand, and makes it so only the rich will be able to save their loved ones with life saving drugs

If drug prices are not regulated by any means, we risk running into the situation where private businesses will withhold essential drugs for medical aid and we will be at the mercy of whatever price they give us no matter how ridiculous. Drug Price Regulation ensures we get a fair price without our lives being used as nudge to take shady prices without relying on the trust of corporations.

Engaged Counter Argument

People can and do die if they can't afford a prescription. Truly that's it, that's the argument, that people not dying matters more than money. I don't know what kind of sick freak would think it's okay to let people die in the name of profits.

 @9GK37MV from Tennessee  disagreed…3yrs3Y

Private businesses are corrupted by their intent. The goal is simply to make money without limit, and as such, many business owners forgo their own morals. This means they can restrict medicines to only the highest paying customers, and that leads to a butterfly effect of any non-customers dying or being to small in number to oppose the company as they effectively take over the government. Like, overthrow the government.

The government should regulate prices for private businesses when it comes to drug prices so that they can be successful too.

Free market economy leads to exploitation of weaker businesses and people. There needs to be regulations.

I care more about the health of the American people then I do the finances of the medical corporations

If the drugs were cheaper than most people that are crazy and like to give drugs to others they would just consistently buy drugs every time
