Section 133 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRAIRA) of 1996 titled "Acceptance of State Services to Carry Out Immigration Enforcement"), since the scope of such delegated authority is evident on the face of the Act. It has long been widely recognized that state and local police possess the inherent authority to arrest aliens who have violated criminal provisions of the INA.
