Yes, but they should impose standards for algorithms that promote content and target disinformation rather than take a heavy-handed approach on the types of content that could be hosted on their sites or that would remove the ability of these companies to moderate their service, with content focused regulations giving social media companies an undue burden to regulate all content entering their site, and the removal of their immunity in that regard would likely lead to the end of the independent content creation that has democratized our culture and created a much more vibrant creative space and marketplace of ideas online than could ever have existed in traditional media.
