Should there be more restrictions on the current process of purchasing a gun?
Yes, keep background checks and psychological testing, however the accuracy of these tests needs to…
“since most gun crimes happen (to my knowledge) with illegally acquired firearms.”
Most gun crimes are committed with illegally acquired firearms, but there are still many instances where legally purchased firearms have been used in mass shootings and other violent crimes. For example, the shooter in the 2017 Las Vegas massacre obtained his weapons legally. Instead of adding more restrictions on law-abiding gun owners, we should focus on enforcing existing laws and addressing mental health issues. Additionally, gun owners should be encouraged to take responsibility for securing their firearms, but mandating it through more regulations is not necessary. What do you think about this perspective?
