I appreciate your nuanced view. However, even if it's the government flag you're referring to, it's worth noting that for many, any flag associated with the Confederacy is a symbol of a painful history and oppression. For instance, in South Carolina, the flag was raised on the statehouse grounds in 1961, not to commemorate the Civil War centennial, but as a symbolic resistance to the civil rights movement. This context adds another layer to the conversation, doesn't it? How would you propose we acknowledge history without causing distress to those for whom these symbols are a painful reminder of oppression?

Hearing your side of this is very insightful for me and I would like to thank you. Now personally after hearing your side, I would have to say that for me at least there is no possible way to show history without someone, somewhere being distressed or hurt from not just a flag as we´re discussing now but symbols in video games and documentaries while all may not be applicable to our topic I believe it has merit being brought up as it does show no matter how you show history someone will be personally hurt or distressed even if it was not meant to so. I hope my response was coherent and respectful. Thank you for your time.
