Personally, like many people in my generation, he got me into early Leftist politics, or at least out of modern NeoLiberal politics. At first, I would've agreed with basically everything he said, since I liked his support for progressive policies, like Medicare-For-All, and his general anti-capitalist Democratic-Socialist attitude; however, over time, I grew increasingly critical of his growing alignment with mainstream Democratic Party policies. Granted, I understand that building up a Socialist movement among such a heavily-propagandized populace, who largely only thinks in terms of Democrats vs Republicans, would be significantly more difficult without some level of diluting for Democrat support (which, if I recall correctly, is something that he himself has openly acknowledged in regards to the difference between his personal Democratic Socialist beliefs vs his minimal Social Democratic campaign), but over time I just feel like he started make way too many concessions to appeal to the Democratic Party that blatantly stood against everything a working-class Democratic Socialist movement fights for. Eventually, after his constant compromising, his support for Biden, his foreign policies on places like Ukraine and Israel, etc....I kinda stopped caring as much about him. Unfortunately, because of our garbage electoral system, I would still rather vote for him than any other Democrat nominee, but I'd still ultimately prefer someone who was still much more openly Socialistic in their campaigns and more adamant in their actions.
