The current average cost of living in the United States is $2500 to $3500 a month, which would equate to $14.42 to $20.19 an hour over a 40 hour week, so why is the federal minimum wage so low? How are people supposed to afford costs of living and college so that they can persue a better career on just $7.50? The federal minimum wage needs to be higher, people shouldn't have to struggle day to day just to get by.
