It’s already hell. But what comes after could be just as worse, particularly if the Israelis find themselves sucked into re-occupying and administering a territory with 2.3m Palestinians. What’s the plan for the day after?
Hamas is a terrorist organization. But it has also served as the de-facto Palestinian government in Gaza for the last 16 years. Eradicate Hamas and you eradicate the Hamas government. Presumably Israel would want to find a replacement before their troops pull out.
There aren’t any good options. Nobody wants to touch Gaza, which has long been synonymous with poverty, underdevelopment, violence, and hopelessness.
“People familiar with the Biden administration’s stance say the White House fears that Israel doesn’t have a plan for what comes next for Gaza after an invasion, and is pressing them to think beyond the immediate goal of eradicating Hamas.”

The plan ought to be to uproot the Hamas governing structure; establish a new civil gov't of Gaza Palestinians who want to work with Israelis and not murder them; a 10-15 yr plan to transition Gaza to full independence, with a similar plan for WB.
@HopefulMandat3Republican7mos7MO
The challenge in Gaza is to get rid of Hamas. After that, the transition to independence is about operations and security. Transition to independence in WB is complicated by settlements. Israel will have to sacrifice settlements just as it did for peace w/Egypt.

Yes. Basis for any deal must be borders of 1967.
@RatHarryLibertarian7mos7MO
No. If the Bibi years have taught us anything it's that sabotaging the 2 state solution is a road to nowhere and has weakened Israel considerably while turning Gaza into a dysfunctional city that poses a global threat due to Hamas' presence as a criminal terrorist enterprise.
@SovereignCoconut7mos7MO
Independence is stupid, just transition Gaza to be a normal part of Israel.
@PublicPolicyTerry7mos7MO
The plan is likely just to push the Gaza's into Egypt though. No occupation, no toppling Hamas with nation building, just simply push them out.
@SoreEqu4litySocialist7mos7MO
No plan -- just spill some blood to satisfy blood-lust & boost ratings for Bibi a bit....the day after can wait for politicians.
