U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken told a group of American Jewish community leaders on Monday that he asked the Qatari prime minister less than two weeks ago to tone down Al Jazeera's rhetoric about the war in Gaza, according to three people who attended the meeting.
Why it matters: Blinken's comments suggest the administration, which has asserted its support for the independent press globally, is concerned Al Jazeera's framing of the conflict could escalate tensions in the region.

If they put Julian Assange in jail forever for revealing the US's actual conduct in their national sport of warring on much of the world(defacto & dejure),they'll not hesitate to tell Qatar to quash Al Jazeera for truth telling.I hope they tell the waning empire to get stuffed.

I’ve watched at least 90 minutes of Al Jazeera English coverage a day since 10/7. It’s completely straight coverage. It is the only broadcast journalism with a reporter inside Gaza.

Makes sense since Al-Jazeera is funded by ***checks notes*** the Qatari government. Has anyone noticed how the network never criticizes the Qatari Royals and/or their god awful labor conditions that is tantamount to human slavery?

Al Jazeera has not amped up any “rhetoric” - it’s nearly been broadcasting from ERs in Gaza. It’s doesn’t need any rhetoric- it need only broadcast the images.
