I agree that some cops abuse their power but they should have acess to weapons and gear that can save their lives when dealing with criminals who also have weapons trying to kill the police.

The police defend the people within the U.S and fight the good fight, If they need military-Grade weaponry to protect citizens, have at it, our safety should be held at high standards to ensure our protection.

So if police sometime in the future pick sides and your side is not the one they pick. And they start rounding you up and you resist and they use those military grade weapons on you. Is that OK ? Don't say it couldn't happen. Look at the country now...

No they should have access to more weapons due to the higher level crimes being committed if citizens can have access to many weapons then why cant they. They are just as able to have the same guns as citizens if not have higher powerful weapons since the training they go through is more advanced.

What if an attacker is chasing you with a knife. and the police can't help from a distance. Or even so if you are under threat/ held hostage what are they supposed to do; talk calmly and hope and pray they put down the weapon.

no nessarly due to citizens getting more stronger weapons then the officers themsleves they have to resort to stronger measures just to make sure that our community is safe if we didnt make our community as unsafe as it is now officers wouldnt need to up on stronger weapons but because us as citizens have a probem with trying to be stronger then the government then the police have to work twice as hard and have twicw as strong weapons just to keep people safe.

It will also increase the amount of armed criminals and gun violence because there aren't any armed any police officers as a deterrent!

While I mostly agree with you that crime needs to be dealt with at the root cause, and that authorizing police use of military weapons can lead to an abuse of power, possibly even an escalation of violence, I want to point out that the decrease of police funding has lead to an increase of violence as well. I believe the police need to be funded and trained to protect our communities. Not defunded. I do think the police should have some contingencies for use of military weapons, but I would need more info on the types of weapons and what would constitute as an emergency. As it stands, the ques…  Read more

I agree. Not every police issue is a violent crime issue and providing excessive weaponry for them would unintentionally encourage violence against nonviolent crime.

 @9GKMG6G from Maryland agreed…6mos6MO

Defund the police. Stop training them specifically to weed out people who care more about people than the government.

 @9GKGXQZ from California agreed…6mos6MO

No I don’t for the reason being that some cops end up not being the best of the best and will see people a certain way that they look like. They will use this to there advantages.

 @9GKH5TNIndependentfrom Guam disagreed…6mos6MO

What the police needs critically is instead the in-depth lessons of responsibilities, and to the civilians the understanding on the burdens police have. The police needs not simply the academy, but the institute.
