Should the federal government increase funding of health care for low income individuals (Medicaid)?
Universal healthcare would raise taxes
But people would no longer pay insurance premiums, deductibles, or co-pays. And employers would no longer pay insurance premiums—they would pay an employment tax that’s far less than the insurance premiums they pay today. This would allow employers to create more jobs. And having a single-payer would significantly reduce the cost of healthcare—there would never be a $10 medication that’s sold for $400. Never.
