The United States experienced a dramatic 12% increase in homelessness as soaring rents and a decline in coronavirus pandemic assistance combined to put housing out of reach for more Americans, federal officials said Friday.
About 653,000 people were experiencing homelessness, the highest number since the country began using the yearly point-in-time survey in 2007 to count the homeless population. The total in the January count represents an increase of about 70,650 homeless people compared to a year earlier.
The latest estimate also indicated that people becoming homeless for the first time were behind much of the increase, and it ended a downward trend in family homelessness that began in 2012.
“This data underscores the urgent need for support for proven solutions and strategies that help people quickly exit homelessness and that prevent homelessness in the first place,” House and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge said in a prepared statement.

Bidenomics is working!
We need affordable housing all multifamily to house migrants and refugees then we can solve homelessness

You ain't seen nothing yet...
Wait until all these millions of illegals hit the streets, then you will truly have a homeless problem...
Thank you Joe and Barack, you've accomplished your mission... You have collectively turned the U.S. into something many do not recognize.

It’s a clear headline to explain living is expensive here. It focus on what’s in America instead of what America is doing for everyone else. If homelessness got any hire, we might lose the poor and middle class. Meaning the rich will pay more in taxes and cut wages even more to fully support America. There needs to be a balance. Let’s not create another Great Depression. You need the rest of the 70% of the population to keep America a float.

We are better than that and should protecct people with suffering with metal illness.

We shouldn’t be making it impossible to live in this country. First we don’t let immigrants in, now we can’t even support the natives of this country.

The housing market is out of control everywhere, with lots of potential homeowners being priced out of the market and affordable housing nowhere to be found. Also, homelessness seems to be rising most sharply in Democratically-governed states, which doesn't lend credibility to their policies. It doesn't surprise me that homelessness is increasing with everything going on in the U.S. economy right now.

Care for America citizens before foreign governments

It’s so expensive to just live anymore. It needs to be handled.
@9HNMC8W5mos5MO
We need to do more to stop homelessness and help the homeless.
Things need to be done about inflation, and interest rates.... people do not have a way out, or don't know a way out.
@9HNLYSD5mos5MO
Housing is getting to be more and more of an issue.

It's gonna grow experientially. It won't be long before all the boomers that are supporting their adult children are broke also.
