President Joe Biden will observe the third anniversary of the January 6 attacks on the U.S Capitol with a political speech near the historic Revolutionary War site in Valley Forge where he will make the case that his top Republican rival Donald Trump poses an existential threat to democracy, the reelection campaign said on Wednesday.
Taken together, the two visits will represent Biden's most direct public attacks this election cycle on Trump and the Republican party he controls, representing a shift in tone after spending much of 2023 touting his signature legislation and the economy.
"The choice for voters next year will not simply be between competing philosophies of governing. The choice for the American people in November 2024 will be about protecting our democracy and every American's fundamental freedoms," said Biden campaign manager Julie Chávez Rodríguez.

Wonder if Biden will give a speech to commemorate the anniversary of Obama ordering the government to spy on trumps campaign too…

Maybe he’ll have time to talk about abortion too
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
What does 'protecting democracy' mean to you in the context of a political speech?
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
Preventing Trump from consolidating power in the executive branch and, as he’s stated, purging leftism from society.
@ISIDEWITH5mos5MO
How do you feel about a president using an anniversary of a national crisis to address political rivalry?
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
Personally, it’s understandable. Trump has openly supported the fascist program known as Project 2025, which would consolidate power in the executive branch and destroy checks and balances. It’s a death sentence to vote him into office if he succeed.
