"U.S. Africa Command said its forces targeted the Al-Shabaab terror group with an airstrike over the weekend, successfully hitting and killing three members in southern Somalia."
"The U.S. and British militaries launched a fresh round of strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen on Monday, defense officials said."
"The U.S. military struck three facilities in Iraq and two anti-ship missiles in Yemen operated by Iranian-backed militias that have attacked U.S. personnel and ships in the region as the United States tries to keep the Israel-Hamas war from spilling over into a wider conflict."
The US government is not even pretending these military actions have anything to do with threats to the US homeland. Use of military force on autopilot.
@JollyC4mpaignRepublican3mos3MO
It is not just about stopping missiles hitting US backyards today.
Western world needs to maintain a relatively secure international environment to maintain prosperity & mitigate future risks.
We need to secure trade routes & deter international threats before they become local.
@EcstaticSealGreen3mos3MO
None of the Red Sea trade routes connect to nor from America. We don’t need to do anything about them.
They’re stuck between Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Somalia. All with skyrocketing populations which hate the west. That trade route is doomed. Fighting for it is futile.
@JollyC4mpaignRepublican3mos3MO
They are a major world trade route & cannot just be ceded to Iranian/Russian backed force without setting major precedent.
Saudi pop declining. Their govts hate the West - but people just want food & security.
Only doomed if we fail to defend it.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution3mos3MO
This sounds like Nikki Haley posting warmongering propaganda with a pen-name. Nikki, no one cares what you think.
@SincereBillOfRightsGreen3mos3MO
And the best way to do that is stop creating freedom fighters
@JollyC4mpaignRepublican3mos3MO
There are already plenty of them to go around - agreed it’s a risk management calculation but the risk of b]being to be too weak or timid to respond forcefully is more likely to encourage escalating attacks than making them too prohibitively dangerous for most attackers.
It's almost like everything President Eisenhower warned us about the dangers of the US military-industrial complex is true.
"The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."
The potential has become reality, the disaster continues to unfold.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution3mos3MO
Neocons in both parties did this to our country. The GOP needs to be republican, with a lowercase r, again.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution3mos3MO
Sad, sad day for our Constitution, our liberties, and world peace. Biden has no constitutional authority to authorise this without a congressional declaration of war after a direct attack on the American homeland. What a warmongering moron. He's trying to establish his image as Mr. Tough Guy, the Wartime President, to conceal his mental bankruptcy and dementia. Not buying it, Joe. In fact, this just makes me hate you even more, and tears asunder your own Democrat Party, many of whose members are furious at you for your Middle East Policy. What a lunatic.

we should have news that affects the entire country or a state as a whole.
