Putin wasn’t threatened by Navalny, who was polling in single digits. Only reason he was jailed is because he worked with the US to try to overthrow the Russian government. Ukraine & NATO benefit much more from a dead Navalny to blame on Putin, given his recent successes.

Let's hope that Navalny's death could at least serve as an argument to put more pressure on the US government to abandon the extradition of Julian Assange.

Why can't these people ever be specific about what they're demanding? What do the want Biden to do, specifically, against Russia?

Bomb Moscow? Send US troops to attack the Kremlin and arrest Putin? Why doesn't Cotton have the courage to say what he's calling for?

 @BlueStateTermiteLibertarianfrom Maine commented…3mos3MO

Specificity would require a deep understanding of the situation and the ramifications of each decision that might be on the table.

They doesn't have that, or any particular discernable principles. So he pounds his war drum and screams "DO SOMETHING!"

Gotta keep the grift going

 @FondSwiftPeace and Freedom from California commented…3mos3MO

I am against any such escalation, but shouldn't Biden be held to account for what he means by "devastating consequences"?

Just 3 weeks ago, a US citizen who was imprisoned by Ukraine for criticizing Zelensky died in prison at 55: few of our über-patriots cared.

They don't care when Israel guns down US citizens in the West Bank or Gaza.

Or when the US Govt destroys Assange for exposing its crimes.

A few reminders:

1) Snowden tried to leave Russia but, as Obama officials boasted, they purposely trapped him there.

2) He's often criticized Russia and Putin.

3) Those pretending today to hate persecution of dissidents are often those justifying US efforts to imprison him.

 @MallardFredGreenfrom Illinois commented…3mos3MO

The same ppl crying about Navalny wouldn’t say a thing if it happened to Snowden or Assange. The same ppl that don’t like Russia killing political activist are fine if Ukraine does the same thing. These ppl will morph into what they need to be.

 @PolentaPeytonLibertarian from California commented…3mos3MO

Many progressives speaking out about Navalny (not crying) also speak out about Snowden & Assange

The comparison must be made to Ukraine

- cancelled elections

- banned the Orthodox Christian church for being “subversive”

- tortured and killed an American for making fun of them3441.7K
