US Customs and Border Protection estimates that 2.4 million migrants have arrived at the country's southwest border in fiscal year 2023 (October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023), higher than the previous year's total. And, as mentioned, only a few of them arrive at legal border crossings, while the majority, numbering more than 2 million, follow illegal routes.
