American schools already teach the injustices of 1860–1960, so the issue is not whether we acknowledge history but how we frame it. While past wrongs should be taught honestly, K–12 education should emphasize individual responsibility and equal treatment under the law rather than approaches influenced by Critical Race Theory associated with Derrick Bell that focus heavily on systemic racial divisions. From this view, unity and progress are better achieved by reinforcing shared civic ideals and judging individuals by character rather than race.

It increases racial tension at such an early age by categorizing children into general racial oppressive and oppressed groups and doesn't offer a good solution to systemic racial tensions and only inflames them
