This country was born of revolution and founded on the simple principle that the power should be in the hands of the people, and that the people have a right to change or even abolish its government if necessary. Prohibiting peaceable citizens from access to weaponry only gives more confidence to the state, and to criminals. An armed citizenry was thought necessary for the security of a free state, as arms act as a force equalizer. Indeed it is, as places secured with arms have shown to reduce the chances of mass shootings and violence. Everyone is a pacifist until faced with the threat of violence. If you were to end up in a situation where there was a mass shooter, wouldn't you want to be armed? When our government is scared of us, there is liberty.

Yes, I agree with this comment. A lot of liberals and Democrats believe that guns should be banned all together. There is no way every gun can be taken out of the hands of the public. People will hide them and some can illegally bring them over the borders. In situations of violence, guns can be helpful. It can be used for defense if needed.

Banning guns would make it worse a lot of people today like myself use guns for sports and for the uses they were intended to. The guns aren't the reason why these people are dying it's the people wielding the weapons that are killing each other. Most of the guns deaths today are by guns that are either illegally imported or are illegally made. Banning guns that we U.S. American citizens use for our safety and for sports are our right and banning them won't stop the killings if anything it'll make it worse.
