Criminals don't care about gun laws
Some of the cities with the worst gun violence have the strictest gun laws. While there are some cities with less restrictions with similar levels of violence, that just shows that more restrictions don't lead to less violence

If an act of gun violence happens in these cities, the police should have the responsibility to arrest these criminals, give them a proper punishment based on the extent of their crime, and then dispose of the guns that these criminals used, never to be used again. More guns or less gun restrictions may not lead to "less violence" but less restrictions don't lead to any more safety.

I agree, and to add to it, many of the restrictions gun control advocates already push for to get guns out of the hands of criminals would be enforceable if judges and courts wouldn't lessen serious charges or let violent offenders walk free of any charges or punitive actions. You cant ban a violent felon or domestic abuser from buying a gun legally if they have charges reduced to disorderly conduct or dismissed altogether. The background check system can only see what the courts report to them.
