While that is true if Gun laws are more restricted to where you need a psychological check, extensive background checks, and training, criminals that are mentally ill, have a background of violence, and/or, can't pass training are less likely to have access to guns and less likely to be a danger to people. This isn't infringing the second amendment as you would still be allowed to carry arms if you're deemed safe to carry arms, it's the best middle ground to not infringe the second amendment while still prioritizing safety.

As a Nation with certain unalienable rights we should understand needed regulations to the use of Guns should be upped so we can stop the increase of criminal activity from starting. School shootings have risen tremendously in the past few years and that's due to the lack of regulation that would've stopped this from happening

Increasing gun restrictions would prevent easy access to those weapons, and it would prevent unintentional access/carelessness in households with young people. Furthermore, you are more likely to die from the gun in your own house.

Crime with armed weapons will happen at least once a year, even if banned. But a great idea would be to ban guns that are too excessive for home defense. Such as Shotguns, AR's, exotic weapons that are meant more for killing rather than deterring.

I believe guns don't kill people; people kill people just like we should be allowed to drive even though that kills people.

 @BCZV7BM  from Colorado  disagreed…2mos2MO

But the people that have guns have taken advantage of having them and people have gotten hurt. I agree that it infringes on the second amendment right so while I don't think they should outlaw guns, there needs to be a much more extensive process in order to purchase one.

 @BD22GZ8 from Illinois  disagreed…2mos2MO

I agree with the argument but I think there should be more regulations for owning and buying guns which can make it harder for people who truly have ill intentions to manage owning a gun.

Second amendment was created for protection and ability to form militia against the British. Yes, firearms should be able to be used in someone’s home for self-defense—but there is no reason for a regular guy to own a .223 Remington semi-auto rifle. The only reason for someone to own a killing machine is to be a killing machine. These weapons should only be brandished by the US military, NOT a regular citizen.

I think they would decrease the amount of violence because more and more people are just buying guns now so we must limit being able to buy guns. If we do that, the amount of violence will decrease in most states.

I agree, the same thing happened to the war on drugs. Instead of drug usage rates going down, it has since gone up.

 @BD2MLXRProgressive from Texas  disagreed…2mos2MO

Gun laws will prevent the wide spread amounts of guns lowering the overall homicide count and more direct gun laws will make it harder to obtain them, as well as making them harder to carry since if you are caught, you will have it taken.

 @BD2GRZG from Texas  disagreed…2mos2MO

Then we do not entirely outlaw guns but persist on having more control with them being sold to individuals.

 @BCZNZW5 from Pennsylvania  disagreed…2mos2MO

out lawing guns would make it harder for criminals to gain access to weapons decreasing gun violence.

 @BD2KJ3Q from Florida  disagreed…2mos2MO

Outlawing guns would decrease the amount of violence as it would be extremely difficult to get your hands on one.

 @BD28RPW from Arizona  agreed…2mos2MO

I agree because gun violence will always happen in places as long as guns are available, they happen across the world not just in the us

 @BD3TBPS from Virginia  commented…2mos2MO

It is very true that criminals don't care about gun laws or reforms on them, and if politicians try to restrict them more to "have better control" then the criminals will just find another way to get what they want whether it be on the Black Market or through the use of a different weapon. It's not a matter of guns, it's a matter of the heart and no matter how much legislation is passed, you can never legislate the heart to stop a criminal from breaking the law because they'll just go to some other means to achieve their goals. Additionally, restricting the priva…  Read more

guns don't kill people. people kill people a gun is just a utility used to help that person kill the other. guns have been around for a long time and if people can't control the way they use it then that's on them just because people are stupid doesn't mean that the whole nation has to pay for their stupidity.

 @BCZQF8W from Kentucky  agreed…2mos2MO

I agree because if the criminals want to buy a gun they will get one if they want it because they are criminals that do not care to break the law.

 @BCZNMMJDemocrat from North Carolina  disagreed…2mos2MO

If we total out guns the total amount of gun violence and murders due to guns would go down and keep neighborhoods safe.
