Should the electoral college be abolished?
No, the electoral college ensures representation of the whole country instead of just major cities
The Electoral College doesn't prevent elections from being dominated by a few places it just changes which places matter
Instead of candidates focusing on major population centers, they focus on a handful of swing states, which receive a disproportionate amount of campaign attention and resources. The Electoral College doesn't solve the problem of unequal political attention; it simply redirects it. As for the claim that a popular vote would give cities more influence, that's because more people live there. In a democratic system, representation is based on people, not land. A vote cast in a city is still a vote cast by an individual citizen and should count the same as a vote cast anywhere else.
