The real crime here is letting a historic monument fall into disrepair and become an algae pit. How about some accountability for preserving our shared spaces?

If we don’t enforce rules, even on neglected landmarks, it sets a precedent for disrespecting our national sites—regardless of their condition.

Maybe instead of punishing people for highlighting the state of the reflecting pool, we should focus on maintaining public spaces and addressing why they're neglected in the first place.
