Lower it a bit so that the US still has a large military spending budget and use the money taken away from it to benefit programs like healthcare.
Its important to consider that military spending doesn't just go towards weapons. A large portion of it is spent on research and development which often leads to advancements in technology, medicine, and other fields that can indirectly benefit society. For example, the internet was initially a product of military research. What are your thoughts on the potential implications of cutting military spending on research and development?
@8NM96NT5yrs5Y
Depends on what is happening in the world
Completely get rid of the military
Don’t increase or decrease
@8DTMCF35yrs5Y
Only increase when it is needed.
@4KBRM54 5mos5MO
Audits should be made to review military spending and any waste or inefficiencies be removed or ended.
@6KHLMDS 10mos10MO
Decrease, by cracking down on government contractors marking up prices for the government for goods and services
@9Y3NQZG10mos10MO
Cut the bloat in the system according to experts and disallow unnecessary defense contracts for unneeded tanks and other weapons that end up in police hands.
Government sponsored military contracts need to be more regulated and investigated to prevent overspending and conflict of interest
@9XC3DY811mos11MO
We can keep the current amount but be smarter about how we spend the money. Money spent on military expenses is not efficient enough.
The military doesn’t even know where there dollars are spent. If they knew that then maybe I’d be okay with their budget. They can’t account for most of their expenditures
@9VQB9BB11mos11MO
Funding is allocated very poorly as it stands, with low-rank military members being paid less than minimum wage during their service with a promise of the rest of the money once their tour is over. Resolve allocation first.
I believe the military contributes to the economy greatly and creates many jobs for people that would otherwise have a more difficult time finding employment; however, I wish the tax money we made in return from the military was spent on the people i.e. healthcare, infrastructure, education and etc.
@9V89V3B12mos12MO
Modernize The military spending budget by getting rid of wasteful spending. Reallocate funds to supporting veterans. Reallocate funds into education. I need more shoes
@9TXYZTPIndependent12mos12MO
The government should reallocate the current amount of money spent to support troops instead of spending funds on complex weapon systems
@9TH9YNS12mos12MO
They need to find the billions of dollars they can’t account for in their audits, and stop over paying private contractors.
@9TD2ZM81yr1Y
I am unsure of how much money is being spent on the military nor how much is being used for the right purpose. So my answer is neither.
@9SLWV8W1yr1Y
Increase, because soldiers need to get better pay and more efficient medical and mental health care.
@9SJ52QSProgressive1yr1Y
There needs to be more checks and balances on where the money is going and what it is being used for
@9SF98DQ1yr1Y
Carefully audit all military spending to cut waste and corruption. Cut profiteering and improve pay and benefits to service members and their families
@9RMG3GJ1yr1Y
Reduce the military to its engineering and development cores, keep all the MPs and military who provide a service
@9RJZZQV1yr1Y
Increase if we begin to use our military for ethical reasons such as ending genocide and giving aid.
@9RFV96H1yr1Y
Increase only if junior enlisted get better living conditions and pay increases, toxic leadership is dealt with in a better and more effective manner, and support for soldiers with families is prioritized
It varies. The military as a whole needs to be reformed but not defunded. Funding for cop city needs to be decreased if not tossed out altogether and military spending regarding foreign interests needs to be decreased.
@9M5JF38Progressive 1yr1Y
The budget on military spending is too attached to weapons dealers. Instead, attach it to a threat assessment that must pass public scrutiny and our representatives.
@9L4M45L1yr1Y
I think it should fluctuate between higher and lower spending every couple of years so that way they still get their funding but it isn't a constant thing that can be wasted.
@9KQVRFG2yrs2Y
It should not be increased, but there should be less attention put on military funding. Too much is wrong but stopping will make an opening.
@9KJMZ9L2yrs2Y
Si vamos a una guerra o a combatir el narco tenemos que aumentarlo , pero si no van hacer nada de eso disminuirlo
@9K8NRLC 2yrs2Y
Decrease to nearly nothing, and fund clean, renewable and nuclear energy projects, raise minimum wage, provide universal healthcare. Us citizen's would have a great trust in our government, this is the most important question.
@9JYW2QD2yrs2Y
I think money needs to be redirected and rebalanced into areas of more importance such as schools and healthcare
@9JWJ4Z22yrs2Y
I think that there should be accountability for the military budget. Spending should be controlled/observed.
@9JR8FFBProgressive2yrs2Y
Decrease, until the Pentagon can pass audits and the military personnel are compensated well when they serve as well as when they become veterans
@9HJKBPW2yrs2Y
The government should only increase military spending if other areas of public services are not impacted by lack of funds.
@9HFXJ4Z2yrs2Y
I feel that it is just the situation that the military is in because if they need to spend a lot of money to keep the country safe then they should be able to.
@9GYLVJR2yrs2Y
Decrease funding for foreign wars and governments committing human rights violations, increase for those in desperate need (ex. Pandemic, genocide)
Neither, the focus should be on increasing efficiency and reducing the need for large militaries globally
@9GSKJQV2yrs2Y
Decrease, military spending has gone far beyond what the military was originally created for and is now used as an international terrorist organization to serve the 1%'s agenda.
Spend a majority of the budget on helping military members readjust to life out of service. Provide jobs, housing, mental health care, and information to reintegrate into society.
@9GGJTV2Independent2yrs2Y
I think the current state of the military is needed, however, the spending is reckless and there are many ways to be more efficient.
@9G5JKL92yrs2Y
Spending needs to correspond with existing needs. Above how much is spent the spending needs to go to the appropriate channels. We need to support our allies.
@9FY3Q8P2yrs2Y
Negotiate with contractors so prices for equipment are lowered so we can then cut the defense budget
@9FH3LZC2yrs2Y
I think we should only spend what we need to keep us on top
@9FDCY9N2yrs2Y
@9F9385M2yrs2Y
Spend the same rate other top countries are spending
No, only when there are wars or like battles going on
@9F5WWLK2yrs2Y
Decrease but provide more services and support to veterans.
@9DXN7232yrs2Y
Decrease, but only with cooperation from other major global players.
@9DPP5Q32yrs2Y
They should audit defense companies and do the same with less money.
@9DDVWCP2yrs2Y
Neither, I do not really care.
@9D7Q4HN2yrs2Y
Its complicated but more funding should be given to help Americans
@9D5BH68Progressive2yrs2Y
Military spending should be balanced against spending for the health, education, and well-being of our citizens.
@8Y4W6Y34yrs4Y
The government should decrease military spending in order to pay for social programs which will help middle class and poor people.
@9BWVVBQ2yrs2Y
Only after conflicts with Russia and China are resolved.
@9BNLQQM2yrs2Y
Literally cut the military spending by 90% to spend on social programs such as education and healthcare... We have the Pacific ocean and Atlantic ocean to protect us.
They should only increase it needed
@99YG5YG2yrs2Y
@96N6X4B3yrs3Y
The defense department should be required to fully account for monies spent in order to maintain current level of funding.
@96GWRWX3yrs3Y
Neither, but we should still reduce the deficit of spending
@96CP4SG3yrs3Y
Reallocate current spending
If we are in a war we should increase the spending, but if not we should decrease the spending.
@96C9XJL3yrs3Y
Stop all manufacturing of arms going to other countries
@9672Z2V3yrs3Y
Adjust according to predicted needs
@966YRDN3yrs3Y
It is fine just how it is
@966MZ2K3yrs3Y
decrease the spending on unnecessary things such as bombs or war, we need to pay for peace.
@965Y7XN3yrs3Y
Streamline current spending and only add if absolutely necessary
@963W7DT3yrs3Y
Streamline current spending and get rid of wasteful spending and only add funds accordingly. Budget better
@962PLBJ3yrs3Y
Would rather that there is more transparency and accountability of spending for funds.
@9622VHW3yrs3Y
The government should only spend what is needed for the military
@95XT8DY3yrs3Y
Depends on present situation
@95X87RT3yrs3Y
Increase but in outter space reach search and travel
@95WM3VD3yrs3Y
I think that it's unfortunate but with the state of our world today it would be unsafe for us to lower our spending and weaken our military. Idealistically, we shouldn't need as powerful of a military as we have.
Decrease and audit Military spending and contract bids annually
@95S8B333yrs3Y
Significantly decrease, like by $500 billion or more decrease
@95RSKFC3yrs3Y
Spending should be reduced by not allowing price gouging by contractors; service members should receive more funding
@95PSBH63yrs3Y
Decrease, after the campaigns in Ukraine
@95PPS873yrs3Y
The budget should not be increased until the waste in military spending is addressed.
@95GRSKL3yrs3Y
Should depend on what they need it for
@95GDZSP3yrs3Y
I don’t like the military
@95DNFNL3yrs3Y
Current spending needs to be streamlined. Determine what the military really needs and get rid of wasteful spending.
@95BWT7D3yrs3Y
Streamline current spending and get rid of wasteful spending and only fund what the military really needs and budget better.
@94K52G53yrs3Y
Redirect money to domestic affairs, such as coast guard
@94HJ3QX3yrs3Y
I would have to see the information on what the money is being used for to know if it is worthwhile to decrease or increase spending
@94GXZ7S3yrs3Y
Increase when it is absolutely needed
@94FMVFL3yrs3Y
Decrease, and invest the excess into social programs, transportation, & student loan forgiveness.
@94DVTKB3yrs3Y
There should be no military in the first place
@9477V5K3yrs3Y
Military funding should be used more efficiently to decrease the amount
@945Y5F73yrs3Y
Pay military personel more, pay Boeing less
@945NFSC3yrs3Y
Restructure military suppliers/spending
@944KMB73yrs3Y
Streamline spending and get rid of wasteful spending
@944HG7J3yrs3Y
It depends on both national and global circumstances.
Decrease, our military resources should be used more efficiently rather than wasting taxpayer dollars
@93RT6GK3yrs3Y
neither but look for waste within
@93RC4C3Women’s Equality3yrs3Y
It could probably be reallocated.
@93P3MJZ3yrs3Y
Only if the money goes to pay raises for active duty.
Serious overhaul of outdated and wasteful logistics
@93KJ7RD3yrs3Y
Increase money going toward services to help veterans after they’ve been traumatized, decrease money going toward weapons of mass destruction that are way beyond anything necessary to achieve any legitimate goal.
@93JX9SJ3yrs3Y
If the increase is to pay our troops more
@93HH8RW3yrs3Y
Funding should stay the same, but be redirected to projects that will actually matter.
