Lower it a bit so that the US still has a large military spending budget and use the money taken away from it to benefit programs like healthcare.

 @GrumpyN0minati0nRepublican from New Jersey  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Its important to consider that military spending doesn't just go towards weapons. A large portion of it is spent on research and development which often leads to advancements in technology, medicine, and other fields that can indirectly benefit society. For example, the internet was initially a product of military research. What are your thoughts on the potential implications of cutting military spending on research and development?

 @4KBRM54 answered…5mos5MO

Audits should be made to review military spending and any waste or inefficiencies be removed or ended.

 @6KHLMDS from Georgia  answered…10mos10MO

Decrease, by cracking down on government contractors marking up prices for the government for goods and services

 @9Y3NQZG from Kansas  answered…10mos10MO

Cut the bloat in the system according to experts and disallow unnecessary defense contracts for unneeded tanks and other weapons that end up in police hands.

 @9XY5VC3Democrat from Rhode Island  answered…10mos10MO

Government sponsored military contracts need to be more regulated and investigated to prevent overspending and conflict of interest

 @9XC3DY8 from Texas  answered…11mos11MO

We can keep the current amount but be smarter about how we spend the money. Money spent on military expenses is not efficient enough.

 @9WNR6DBDemocrat from New Jersey  answered…11mos11MO

The military doesn’t even know where there dollars are spent. If they knew that then maybe I’d be okay with their budget. They can’t account for most of their expenditures

 @9VQB9BB from Tennessee  answered…11mos11MO

Funding is allocated very poorly as it stands, with low-rank military members being paid less than minimum wage during their service with a promise of the rest of the money once their tour is over. Resolve allocation first.

 @9VKNWVXDemocrat from Ohio  answered…11mos11MO

I believe the military contributes to the economy greatly and creates many jobs for people that would otherwise have a more difficult time finding employment; however, I wish the tax money we made in return from the military was spent on the people i.e. healthcare, infrastructure, education and etc.

 @9V89V3B from Texas  answered…12mos12MO

Modernize The military spending budget by getting rid of wasteful spending. Reallocate funds to supporting veterans. Reallocate funds into education. I need more shoes

 @9TXYZTPIndependent from North Carolina  answered…12mos12MO

The government should reallocate the current amount of money spent to support troops instead of spending funds on complex weapon systems

 @9TH9YNS from Illinois  answered…12mos12MO

They need to find the billions of dollars they can’t account for in their audits, and stop over paying private contractors.

 @9TD2ZM8 from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

I am unsure of how much money is being spent on the military nor how much is being used for the right purpose. So my answer is neither.

 @9SLWV8W from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

Increase, because soldiers need to get better pay and more efficient medical and mental health care.

 @9SJ52QSProgressive from Florida  answered…1yr1Y

There needs to be more checks and balances on where the money is going and what it is being used for

 @9SF98DQ from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

Carefully audit all military spending to cut waste and corruption. Cut profiteering and improve pay and benefits to service members and their families

 @9RMG3GJ from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

Reduce the military to its engineering and development cores, keep all the MPs and military who provide a service

 @9RJZZQV from Missouri  answered…1yr1Y

Increase if we begin to use our military for ethical reasons such as ending genocide and giving aid.

 @9RFV96H from New York  answered…1yr1Y

Increase only if junior enlisted get better living conditions and pay increases, toxic leadership is dealt with in a better and more effective manner, and support for soldiers with families is prioritized

 @9Q2M65LNo Labels from Georgia  answered…1yr1Y

It varies. The military as a whole needs to be reformed but not defunded. Funding for cop city needs to be decreased if not tossed out altogether and military spending regarding foreign interests needs to be decreased.

 @9M5JF38Progressive  from Connecticut  answered…1yr1Y

The budget on military spending is too attached to weapons dealers. Instead, attach it to a threat assessment that must pass public scrutiny and our representatives.

 @9L4M45L from Arkansas  answered…1yr1Y

I think it should fluctuate between higher and lower spending every couple of years so that way they still get their funding but it isn't a constant thing that can be wasted.

 @9KQVRFG from Massachusetts  answered…2yrs2Y

It should not be increased, but there should be less attention put on military funding. Too much is wrong but stopping will make an opening.

 @9KJMZ9L from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

Si vamos a una guerra o a combatir el narco tenemos que aumentarlo , pero si no van hacer nada de eso disminuirlo

 @9K8NRLC  from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease to nearly nothing, and fund clean, renewable and nuclear energy projects, raise minimum wage, provide universal healthcare. Us citizen's would have a great trust in our government, this is the most important question.

 @9JYW2QD from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

I think money needs to be redirected and rebalanced into areas of more importance such as schools and healthcare

 @9JWJ4Z2 from Wisconsin  answered…2yrs2Y

I think that there should be accountability for the military budget. Spending should be controlled/observed.

 @9JR8FFBProgressive from South Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, until the Pentagon can pass audits and the military personnel are compensated well when they serve as well as when they become veterans

 @9HJKBPW from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

The government should only increase military spending if other areas of public services are not impacted by lack of funds.

 @9HFXJ4Z from Delaware  answered…2yrs2Y

I feel that it is just the situation that the military is in because if they need to spend a lot of money to keep the country safe then they should be able to.

 @9GYLVJR from Minnesota  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease funding for foreign wars and governments committing human rights violations, increase for those in desperate need (ex. Pandemic, genocide)

 @9GV84MNGreen  from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Neither, the focus should be on increasing efficiency and reducing the need for large militaries globally

 @9GSKJQV from Tennessee  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, military spending has gone far beyond what the military was originally created for and is now used as an international terrorist organization to serve the 1%'s agenda.

 @9GJFYPFSocialist from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

Spend a majority of the budget on helping military members readjust to life out of service. Provide jobs, housing, mental health care, and information to reintegrate into society.

 @9GGJTV2Independent from Washington D.C.  answered…2yrs2Y

I think the current state of the military is needed, however, the spending is reckless and there are many ways to be more efficient.

 @9G5JKL9 from Connecticut  answered…2yrs2Y

Spending needs to correspond with existing needs. Above how much is spent the spending needs to go to the appropriate channels. We need to support our allies.

 @9FY3Q8P from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

Negotiate with contractors so prices for equipment are lowered so we can then cut the defense budget

 @9BWVVBQ from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BNLQQM from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

Literally cut the military spending by 90% to spend on social programs such as education and healthcare... We have the Pacific ocean and Atlantic ocean to protect us.

 @96N6X4B from California  answered…3yrs3Y

The defense department should be required to fully account for monies spent in order to maintain current level of funding.

 @96GWRWX from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @95WM3VD from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

I think that it's unfortunate but with the state of our world today it would be unsafe for us to lower our spending and weaken our military. Idealistically, we shouldn't need as powerful of a military as we have.

 @95TKLX6Socialist from Arkansas  answered…3yrs3Y

Spending should be reduced by not allowing price gouging by contractors; service members should receive more funding

 @95PSBH6 from Illinois  answered…3yrs3Y

 @95PPS87 from Nebraska  answered…3yrs3Y

The budget should not be increased until the waste in military spending is addressed.

 @95DNFNL from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Current spending needs to be streamlined. Determine what the military really needs and get rid of wasteful spending.

 @95BWT7D from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @94K52G5 from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @94HJ3QX from Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

I would have to see the information on what the money is being used for to know if it is worthwhile to decrease or increase spending

 @94FMVFL from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

Decrease, and invest the excess into social programs, transportation, & student loan forgiveness.

 @94DVTKB from Michigan  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93KJ7RD from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Increase money going toward services to help veterans after they’ve been traumatized, decrease money going toward weapons of mass destruction that are way beyond anything necessary to achieve any legitimate goal.

 @93JX9SJ from New Hampshire  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93HH8RW from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Funding should stay the same, but be redirected to projects that will actually matter.
