the current level of spending is ok if it can be justified and the pentagon can be audited to assure that what is being spent is actually of reasonable value

 @9WMRGRRSocialist from New York  answered…11mos11MO

Keep it where it is, and focus on other areas that need help and are struggling like education, healthcare, etc.

 @9VPB3GTSocialist from New York  answered…11mos11MO

The military should only be allowed enough funds that they are 100% able to account for with consistent public audits.

 @9VL54W9Socialist from New York  answered…12mos12MO

I do think military spending in the U.S. is extreme but I have heard things that make me unsure. For example, I know that a lot of military spending goes toward scientific advancements.

 @9VGZR67Socialist from Minnesota  answered…12mos12MO

i do belive that the government should decrese military spending, but only because i beleive that a lot of the money going to the military can go to better places, like the school system and healthcare.

 @9SS5X2QSocialist from California  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease funding specifically the $800 billion dollars spent annually on battleships that aren’t in use or relevant anymore

 @9SCRMV8Socialist from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

If the military budget is getting in the way of other services then it should be decreased, but our military power has been what's kept America safe from invasion for so long.

 @9S93G7WSocialist from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease foreign military spending, keep domestic the same only increase in the wake of decreased foreign intervention.

 @9RZ3BXBSocialist from Louisiana  answered…1yr1Y

I think we should find a way to decrease spending whilst still being able to stay at the top of the food chain that in case of a massive threat, we still hold power over them.

 @9RVMV5DSocialist from New York  answered…1yr1Y

We are arguably capable of being able to fund a our military and have the social welfare programs we deserve if we can’t then maybe we should find a way to met our treaty obligations without having such an insane defense budjet

 @9R7JHW5Socialist from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease, until more money is being given to active and veteran members and in maintaining their well-being, we should not give more money to military spending

 @9MCMHZBSocialist from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

Should only contribute tax money partially towards the Military, and instead the rest goes to pay of universal dept.

 @9MBS6RGSocialist  from Iowa  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease, especially with the current multi-year streak of the Pentagon failing their audits without consequences.

 @9LV3622Socialist  from Illinois  answered…1yr1Y

Stop funding the military-industrial complex, combat profiteering, and raise base pay for lower-enlisted service members.

 @9LN9XVVSocialist from Connecticut  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease gradually, transferring those funds to social programs and infrastructure including putting veterans to work on even more infrastructure projects.

 @9LKQLY8Socialist from California  answered…1yr1Y

I feel as if the military spending is okay but we should invest in our veterans we need better programs and should increase the funding in regards to mental and physical health as well as shelter for veterans or those honorably discharged.

 @9KMPFYTSocialist from Minnesota  answered…2yrs2Y

Military spending should be distributed to other things, like homelessness, food, and financial services to education, and once these are substantial, then military spending can retain the rate it is at.

 @9KJJMDCSocialist from Rhode Island  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase due to the tensions, but not to be used to engage in conflict immediately. Just to hold in spending, less investment in nuclear warfare, however.

 @9KGR8BGSocialist from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease to an amount that would still be good, but enough so social issues like homelessness can be more focused on.

 @9KDR5RSSocialist from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

Depends, it is okay to increase spending in times or war but apart from that, they should be lowered

 @9JVQMLVSocialist from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, the US does not need such a large military, its only purpose is power projection and interfering in the affairs of sovereign nations, which is inherently undemocratic.

 @9J3SVT2Socialist from Delaware  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, and invest that money into social welfare projects (Public Transit, Public Infrastructure, etc)

 @9HQTBGXSocialist  from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

The military should reprioritize current funding to develop systems that can address peer/near-pear future threats.

 @9HMT2TWSocialist  from California  answered…2yrs2Y

We need to reduce military spending to 30% of its current size, it is not necessary to spend this amount of taxpayer money on the military especially when we are running a deficit as big as we currently are

 @9GV9W3WSocialist from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

I think we should pay our people more, if we do increase the spending, for serving our country and veterans after they get out, especially if they're wounded in action.

 @9GQT4NRSocialist from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

They have enough money but they should make it harder to get in because the military doesn't have very good recruits currently in my opinion.

 @9GMS7RPSocialist from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Depends, should be the outcome of a paradigm shift in how we approach foreign threats versus internal national security threats were we compare the two and think in terms of the long-term alongside the short term.

 @9GJFYPFSocialist from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

Spend a majority of the budget on helping military members readjust to life out of service. Provide jobs, housing, mental health care, and information to reintegrate into society.

 @9GBD8D5Socialist from California  answered…2yrs2Y

It should be decreased and the funding that is cut should be moved to more social programs to help benefit lower income individuals.

 @9G644HKSocialist from Utah  answered…2yrs2Y

we need to budget better the government has a history of overpaying for stuff. but keep it about the same.

 @9G3P86NSocialist from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

I think that it is not bad to build the military, but we have a large one that we do not use often. It is okay to slow down if need be.

 @9FZ7WLQSocialist from New Jersey  answered…2yrs2Y

Military spending should be considered AFTER essential needs are addressed for most ( housing, health, education, etc)

 @9FP2YQPSocialistanswered…2yrs2Y

The amount isn't the problem, it's where the money is going (and NOT going) that's a problem.

 @9FDYJ8ZSocialist from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

In moments of war i believe they should be spending whatever they can to win

 @9FD599QSocialist from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

They need to focus more of the funds into the actual soldiers for things such as mental health, and not into the machines

 @9F6RLV7Socialistanswered…2yrs2Y

We should keep the military budget not too high because we are not at war and if we don't go to war for a long time we will need to update our weapons causing us to spend more and not need the older military weapons because they don't work as well in combat.

 @9F5FJQGSocialist from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

diminuire, è l'esercito dovrebbe essere pesantemente riformato e de potenziato e con molti limiti

 @96J5JQMSocialist from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Decrease or remain the same -- Current spending should be analyzed first; many products are sold to the government at marked-up prices simply because they can, and many department budgets for all branches of service are based on the usage of the previous year, resulting in usage of money that the military didn't really need there, whereas another department could have utilized it to service members' benefit.

 @96DDZBVSocialist from Washington D.C.  answered…3yrs3Y

Should be kept the same but redistributed after an audit to ensure efficiency.

 @96882BVSocialist from Michigan  answered…3yrs3Y
