Should the government increase or decrease military spending?

Increase, only if needed.

the current level of spending is ok if it can be justified and the pentagon can be audited to assure that what is being spent is actually of reasonable value

Decrease. I'm not against the military in general, but I think we could divert some of the spending on it to more important issues at home.

Keep it where it is, and focus on other areas that need help and are struggling like education, healthcare, etc.

The military should only be allowed enough funds that they are 100% able to account for with consistent public audits.

I do think military spending in the U.S. is extreme but I have heard things that make me unsure. For example, I know that a lot of military spending goes toward scientific advancements.

i do belive that the government should decrese military spending, but only because i beleive that a lot of the money going to the military can go to better places, like the school system and healthcare.

Sort of, we are dealing with inflation, and military spending is one way to use extra taxpayer money.

If the military budget is getting in the way of other services then it should be decreased, but our military power has been what's kept America safe from invasion for so long.

I think we should find a way to decrease spending whilst still being able to stay at the top of the food chain that in case of a massive threat, we still hold power over them.

We are arguably capable of being able to fund a our military and have the social welfare programs we deserve if we can’t then maybe we should find a way to met our treaty obligations without having such an insane defense budjet

Depends on the situation at hand, if nothing of importance is going on then no, unless the spending is explicitly used for improvement on equipment or training.

Should only contribute tax money partially towards the Military, and instead the rest goes to pay of universal dept.

Stop funding the military-industrial complex, combat profiteering, and raise base pay for lower-enlisted service members.

I feel as if the military spending is okay but we should invest in our veterans we need better programs and should increase the funding in regards to mental and physical health as well as shelter for veterans or those honorably discharged.

Military spending should be distributed to other things, like homelessness, food, and financial services to education, and once these are substantial, then military spending can retain the rate it is at.

Increase due to the tensions, but not to be used to engage in conflict immediately. Just to hold in spending, less investment in nuclear warfare, however.

The government should audit the armed forces and increase current accountability measures, tackle wasteful spending, and ensure all current funding is being used at maximum efficiency.

They allow spending to go to the wrong places, although if they allocated it in a better way, with better records. It would be good to increase spending.

We need to reduce military spending to 30% of its current size, it is not necessary to spend this amount of taxpayer money on the military especially when we are running a deficit as big as we currently are

Cut the funding by a little bit and redirect spending on better treatment of the military, stricter regulations, and better training.

I think we should only increase money if the area of the military is of current use, if it is not currently as relevant as other areas it should decrease.

It really depends because at times the military doesn't really need that much money, however, it times of crisis it needs more funding

They have enough money but they should make it harder to get in because the military doesn't have very good recruits currently in my opinion.

Depends, should be the outcome of a paradigm shift in how we approach foreign threats versus internal national security threats were we compare the two and think in terms of the long-term alongside the short term.

Spend a majority of the budget on helping military members readjust to life out of service. Provide jobs, housing, mental health care, and information to reintegrate into society.

we need to budget better the government has a history of overpaying for stuff. but keep it about the same.

I think that it is not bad to build the military, but we have a large one that we do not use often. It is okay to slow down if need be.

If other countries Pay their nato then we should lower it, but if they don't then we should maintain or higher.

We should keep the military budget not too high because we are not at war and if we don't go to war for a long time we will need to update our weapons causing us to spend more and not need the older military weapons because they don't work as well in combat.

We need to evaluate what speeding is being used for and then divert funds to appropriate departments.
