We need a lot of money put into our military, China is starting to step up their military up a lot and being prepared is the best we can be

 @TheRightSophieLibertarian from New Jersey  disagreed…2yrs2Y

It's true that China has been increasing its military spending. However, it's worth noting that the U.S. still spends more on its military than the next 10 countries combined, including China. Our defense budget is so large that even a moderate reduction would still leave us with a formidable military force.

Perhaps we should consider investing more in diplomacy and international cooperation. For example, the U.S. could lead a global disarmament initiative, encouraging all nations to decrease their military spending. Not only would this reduce the likelihood of conflict, but it would also free up resources for pressing global issues like climate change and poverty.

What do you think about this idea? How do you believe we can maintain national security while also addressing these global challenges?

 @9Y6ZL4ZConstitution from Oklahoma  answered…10mos10MO

The US military spends vastly different costs on products that, to most other consumers, would be much less expensive. When we can figure out how to cut costs on equipment, then we can redirect funds to more important areas, such as fuel, training, and VA competency

 @9XFWTPCConstitution from Minnesota  answered…11mos11MO

Only if they fight their own wars, w eshould nit be funding the israel-hamas war for example, but fund a counter to the illegal immigrant invasion

 @9WWHTMFConstitution from Oklahoma  answered…11mos11MO

If we spent our money properly and wisely we could reduce amount spent and only spend on actual military not social

 @9WTQXNGConstitution from Texas  answered…11mos11MO

Maintain military necessity for domestic peace, and drastically reduce unnecessary spending through increased transparency.

 @9WJY9KFConstitution from Michigan  answered…11mos11MO

Our military should have funds to be the best it can be without overspending as it protects our constitution.

 @9WH85J8Constitution from Pennsylvania  answered…11mos11MO

It depends on what the plans for the military are. It also depends on how they would utilize the increase. I would not decrease it.

 @9VDZHV7Constitution from Colorado  answered…12mos12MO

Review what the military is spending money on. Increase funding where needed but decrease or cut out programs that are a waste of money.

 @9TD7DXZConstitution from Texas  answered…1yr1Y

It’s more about using our military resources properly and making our allies pay their fair share so we don’t have to over pay

 @9SRGBY5Constitution from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease, stop government officials from being involved "in bed" with military manufacturing companies

 @9SHW82NConstitution from Missouri  answered…1yr1Y

I think that they should decrease in the sense of spending and funding the Ukraine vs. Russia war. We are pouring out money into a war that we are not even involved in. Our country is going into debt just by continuing to fund this war.

 @9SBKRX4Constitution from West Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

The government should focus on keeping the US Military technologically superior to other countries and ensure our weapons are more advanced than our enemies.

 @9S3F4CLConstitution from Florida  answered…1yr1Y

We should decrease spending for a little bit and utilize the money for infrastructure programs in the country

 @9RKV5DBConstitution from Minnesota  answered…1yr1Y

Keep the spending but I want sources of waste or corruption to be investigated and prosecuted. I want the spending to be effective.

 @CurvyletterConstitution answered…1yr1Y

Increase, or maintain it to ensure readiness and deterrence concerning recent geopolitical developments

 @9N6YSTZConstitution from Missouri  answered…1yr1Y

We should always have the capability of our current military industrial complex, but return to isolationism

 @9MK54ZQConstitution from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

I think we need to invest in cost optimization for the military. The budget is big enough its just spent in frivolous ways.

 @9M7VDRZConstitution from California  answered…1yr1Y

There is an insane amount of unnecessary spending in the military. Cutting out unnecessary things and using that funding for very important things.

 @9M3BYHGConstitution from Oklahoma  answered…1yr1Y

We underserved the military and veterans who keep us safe. No more aid to Ukraine, Egypt or anyone else. Our $ stays here! Stop taxing and taxing our taxes and taxes social security and taxing dead people after they paid taxes all their lives.

 @9KVYCX4Constitution from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

I think the budget needs to be spent better and quit sending funds to foreign wars we have nothing to do with.

 @9JTCMHLConstitution from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

A variable approach for military spending would work better than simply increasing or decreasing spending. Higher spending in a state of war, lower spending in a state of peace.

 @9J6V3ZKConstitution from Vermont  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but the spending should be balanced differently. More money should be spent on military family housing and support than on research.

 @9J298YWConstitution from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

As of now, the US already has the highest amount of money being put into its military. But if the US gets into another war, military spending should be increased so we can end the war quicker and with less casualties

 @9HRHMSJConstitution from Michigan  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, mainly through slashing wasteful programs that are contributing little to nothing to our country's defenses

 @9HDC6TPConstitution from Utah  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, also, reduce all federal spending in all areas until the United States spends less than what it takes in.

 @9GMH9F9Constitution from Iowa  answered…2yrs2Y

decrease on out of this country military spending, but increase on the United States military spending

 @9GBM226Constitution from Wyoming  answered…2yrs2Y

The whole system needs to be rebuilt so that there is no longer a use it or loose it mentality. then we can talk.

 @9FQNDHRConstitution from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

Ensure that the funding already allotted to the military is being used for the proper reasons, such as training for troops, weapons & equipment, housing, benefits for troops, & modernizing our military where needed. Increase in funding can be determined afterwards

 @9DQQL5ZConstitution from Nebraska  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, cut the fat out of the budget. Quit wasting money by supporting foreign wars

 @9DF8VN3Constitution from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Neither, I am satisfied with the current amount of spending but the military should improve efficiency

 @9D5XJ3TConstitution from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase, and eliminate budget reductions for any leftovers. How can the military be equipped with the best tech available if their budgets keep shrinking every year due to unspent money?

 @9D5TYX7Constitution from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9C4FFCPConstitution from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, to help get the national debt if we need to increase for a war then do, it will help either way.

 @9B5BV9ZConstitution from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

First root out waste fraud and abuse. Second root out pork and special favors. Third invest in next generation, like drones, cyber, kinetic weapons, and other technologies.

Neither, The government needs to rework its spending procedures to increase the amount of protection we get for the same monetary value

 @9656LNZConstitution from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

move funding from salaries in congress and put that into advancing our military

 @95FCGRYConstitution from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

 @95C9P92Constitution from Mississippi  answered…3yrs3Y

The government should reduce requirements for our forces and reduce funding to match.

 @9582YFKConstitution from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

It depends. I think Europe, Asia, Mexico and Canada can supply and pay for their own defense. We should provide for own defense and protect our vital interests only.

 @956946SConstitution from Georgia  answered…3yrs3Y

We have to fund it majorly because of how other countries are advancing

 @954K856Constitution from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @94N7K8BConstitution from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Decrease because the deficit is a national security issue. The military industrial complex must do a better job of curbing wasteful programs pushed by members of Congress trying to bring dollars to their districts..

 @949J5JNConstitution from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9453LVJConstitution from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

The military should maintain their position in competition with other countries and how they scale their armies. We need to constantly stay ahead with more innovation and programs that monitor other regions military activity.

 @943QYQ4Constitution from Michigan  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93BC3DKConstitution from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

The US military should be abolished because it is a tool of leftist fascism.

 @934VV4GConstitution from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Increase but have oversight into how money is being spent so our dollar can be stretched more and so that we can have a more powerful military

 @92TYCYLConstitution from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Leave NATO, leave the UN, tell our "allies" to f off, and then increase spending.

 @92NZ35XConstitution from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

We need to reform military spending as we do with all government spending. We should have a strong military and invest in defense technologies, but not inefficiently waste money when projects could be accomplished in a cost effective but still correct manner. Invest in our military, but cut out the excess bogus, and safeguard against military-industrial complex.

 @92L4JBLConstitution from South Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes oh, but we also need to close down unnecessary committees oversight's and such government programs like disinformation govern board and also decrease all government officials pay by 50%

 @92KGC9TConstitution from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Z4SDHGConstitution from Idaho  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8YPPH9KConstitution from Utah  commented…4yrs4Y

Increase

Our country has only lasted so long and been so steadfast and strong in this world because we had a strong military. Defunding that military leaves us open to attacks and leaves us open to losing our freedoms.

 @8YMDZ7TConstitution from California  answered…4yrs4Y

The military should be restructured to have the active regular army be reformed Into the reserves, all of our foreign military bases should be decommissioned and domestic bases be reactivated and brought up to standard as training bases.
