Decrease to help support other government programs (health care, public schools,etc.).

 @8THTZTQ from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @B6XY52N from Virginia  answered…1wk1W

Decrease until the national debt is greatly reduced and than it can be raised as long as it won't require taking on more debt

 @B6VRX8TLibertarian from Virginia  answered…2wks2W

having a strong military is important, but if more effort is going into building a strong military rather than the people, then something is wrong

 @B6LXXD2Independent from Virginia  answered…4wks4W

While I support a large military and the widespread reach of the military there is far too much wasteull or superfluous spending as a result of contractors

 @B6GK7S8 from Virginia  answered…1mo1MO

Maintain or decrease budget, focusing spending on areas that actually matter such as mental health care, support for veterans, and food/nutrition.

 @B4P3CGY from Virginia  answered…5mos5MO

Current funding levels are fine. Instead the military needs to reduce barriers to weapons and ammunition production, recalibrate its force posture for great power competition, and fight institutional corruption in the military industrial complex that makes it easy for defense contractors to get away with poor output and performance.

 @B2S3LLR  from Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

Regardless, fix the major spending issues and spend it on planes and keeping people safe and equipment up to par and then we can talk about it.

 @B2NT3WTRepublican from Virginia  answered…8mos8MO

I would argue either depending on the day. We simultaneously spend money on literally developing lasers, but we are also in 2 proxy wars with Russia and Co. But we do seriously need to decrease our deficit.

 @9ZH3PFM from Virginia  answered…10mos10MO

We shouldn't spend more or less. However, if wartime comes or something that endangers our nation, we should increase our spending.

 @9Y4FWT7 from Virginia  answered…11mos11MO

We can keep the same budget by drastically cutting spending in some areas (many government entities don't show promised results and say it's due to cost of contractors, reorgs, etc.) and increasing in others (maintenance, R&D, and active military/veteran affairs, which also helps recruiting numbers)

 @9X4PDNY from Virginia  answered…11mos11MO

Decrease, after an extensive top down review of all military spending. Find the waste and take it back or charge additional taxes to those industries found to be wasting tax payer money.

 @9WYPCLLLibertarian from Virginia  answered…11mos11MO

Some spending should decrease, but some should increase. It depends on exactly what the money is going towards.

 @9SQHKBM from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

We should have high military spending. But high should not mean nearly 1 trillion dollars. If we were to spend nearly 1 trillion dollars, it could be used to fight and solve every issues we have in this nation right now. National security is important, but if we were to cut even 80% of the current military budget, we would still have enough money for virtually everything we currently have to ensure the US remains among the top military nations. At the same time, we invest in other projects which right now are more important than being involved in war.

 @9S4R6NH from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease and reallocate funds to better prepare the military for the wars and conflicts of the future.

 @9RQ9JTB from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Specific spending should be reduced in certain areas, but reduction should not be undertaken if it were to reasonably jeopardize national security

 @9RPK5DQ from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Keep expenses the same, since they receive benefits and get a lot of privileges. They can increase if they would like but never decrease. I say increase but dont agree for other reasons. Only reason is inflation.

 @9RGGP5S from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease, and instead spend the money on scientific and engineering research to remain a military power

 @9RBTVMJIndependent from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

For my own skin, increase because I work off of a government contract but I am fully aware that we spend probably far too much on “defense” spending. I think we are at a point that we really can’t, because so many jobs in this country revolve around this type of work and could most likely make a serious impact overall

 @9QXTR72 from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Keep the same or slightly reduce, but reduce waste, fraud and abuse in order to gain greater return on investment for spending.

 @9PR6N5B from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease, but by reforming the acquisition and contracting process, as well as the military industrial complex

 @9MH73HQ from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease and reallocate funds to other sectors like the power grid and other failing infrastructure as well as, public transportation.

 @9M3YQ36 from Virginia  answered…1yr1Y

I am somewhat satisfied with the military budget, but I think some excesses and grafts need to be gotten rid of and the money saved from that invested at home

 @9KZ7RMR from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

I hate military spending and the building of weapons, but in this world, it is inevitable. I still hate it all.

 @9K96H6LDemocrat from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease yet allocate more resources towards the navy and things that will keep us competing with China

 @9K96FHB from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease military spending without decreasing output, for instance a hummer in the 80s costs $220,000, whereas you could by a ford pickup of better quality, reliability, and strength, for $25,000

 @9HYJH5N from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

DOD and similar agencies should review budget to see where spending must be increased and where decreased

 @9HYFGBX from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease. Unless we need to actively use our military, there should be no reason to overspend on them.

 @9GW66X4 from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Due to American culture our militaries are no longer occupied by individuals who want to defend or fight for freedom, with our military being used to the advantage of individuals politically or for the benefits provided by the military.

 @9G8Z7MC from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Find a good balance but don't make a too drastic change as that would cause an increase in tax and national upset if too large.

 @9F2R5FGGreen from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease and invest it into infastructure, education, and other public services.

 @9DZXRXM from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DTW5CVPeace and Freedom from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

If the money is put in the right area of the military then I would want them to increase.

 @9DRM2R6 from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DPX8W4 from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Spending should be decreased, but the bigger problem is that money is distributed poorly in the military and abused.

 @9DNKKBC from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase only when necessary. If in a moment of peace, we should be spending less money.

 @9DKSNTC from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DHL2ZX from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DG6QVSRepublican from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @96PBJ93 from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @96NKJGZDemocrat from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Increase only if there is a situation that may call for higher level and more advanced military tactics and tools

 @95LR699 from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

i think they should also focus on everything else other than military issues in order to better themselves as a nation

 @94RTKGV from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but they should not give the military more money than they request

 @947ZDNH from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9456PZB from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

It depends on the program, and it depends on the changing security situation around the world.

 @93D3X9XIndependent from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92QL5WPGreen from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Decrease, but give an option for donations and give advertisements to do such

 @92PLYSH from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Investment in modernized IT systems and reducing administrative costs should be imperative for the Pentagon.

 @92GLY67 from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZX2Q7KJustice party member from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Decrease, military enlisted are paid without performing labor. Should be easier to fire people.

 @8ZDQRST from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

The government should reorganize and reevaluate how their money is spent and make sure it is used more efficiently

 @8Z6HMNV from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8Y6HQ7D from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Keep funding the same, but reevaluate where the money is going. I believe our servicemembers deserve better pay for what they do, but with how the budget is set up this cannot be attained.

 @8Y4MB39 from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Defense spending should march what we ask the military to do, if we want to but the budget all them to do less

 @8Y3C66N from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8XVSPJQ from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8XNK254 from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Sustain, but redirect funding from R&D contractors to investing in better quality of life for troops to attract and retain talent.

 @8XGQ2XT from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8X27QD8 from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Only in times of need should large amounts of money be spent on military like lets say if we were in a war 👍

 @8VKYDGT from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Decrease, but only after a complete and in-depth audit on the military's expenditures. This includes large expenditures like major research projects, IT infrastructure and equipment handing and smaller ones like cost-benefit analyses on getting paperwork processed

 @8VDWYHC from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V8ND27 from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

 @Qwerty1123 from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

If need be, then increase. But since there doesn’t appear to be a need, then keep it steady.

 @8TZNMW7 from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

I don’t really care unless it’s being put to good use. Our military expenses can sometimes outweigh others of a potentially equal calibre.

 @8SY85H7 from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Decrease, a allocate appropriately to other spending that benefits americans.

 @8STVPKP from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Decrease, but by cutting superfluous spending to maintain the same budget, not by removing personel or maintain/increasing capabilities.

 @8SLBRQG from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Neither, they need to audit military spending and find where money is being wasted and reallocate that money towards education

 @8RDHN9M from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

The US should decrease military spending, bring back most military personnel based overseas. Instead the US should have a policy of neutrality, but support free trade and human rights.

 @8RCNY3WLibertarian from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

The USA should maintain a neutral foreign policy like Switzerland. And also like Switzerland have a citizens militia. In countries where government is carrying out genocide the US should stop any support it gives to that country and allow citizens and NGOs to participate in reducing and stopping said genocide.

The only policies the US support internationally is free trade and human rights.

 @8QWYZNK from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

neither, appropriately redistribute funds and increase pay for service members. Stop wasteful spending and the "if you don't use it, you lose it" mentality.

 @8QRDG6Z from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8QMGN4B from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Shift spending from antiquated analog warfare technologies to digital and space warfare technologies.

 @8PZJQ77 from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Seek ways to decrease by increasing our vendor base and manufacturing capacity in this country to lessen the military-industrial complex.

 @8PLG6Y4 from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Decrease and shift towards more important things--student debt, social programs, etc.

 @8P95XMW from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Decrease, America spends way too much on defense and not enough on matters that actually have an impact on our nation; ie education, healthcare etc.

 @8P59HW7 from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Root out any waste and inefficiencies without drastically changing the budget

 @8P3ZJDQ from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Increase pay for those putting their life on the line but restrict excessive spending on things not needed

 @8P3Y9CP from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Neither, but right now, during the pandemic, I don't think fighting is a good thing

 @8NWX2HKRepublican from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Neither, reallocate funds to cut wasted money; such as: paying for viagra

 @8NW23JC from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

i think they should all get the same amount because they are all fighting

 @8NGMJGR from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Honestly we should pay our soldiers more than what they are currently being paid. Decrease the amount we spend on research and increase what the soldiers make.
