Decrease, and cut back wasteful practices and spending. only in times of military hardship should in be increased, AFTER it is decreased to an appropriate ammount.

 @9D5434F from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, we need to train our troops to kill without mercy the enemies of the US not to identify their pronouns. We need people willing to die for our country, not wear dresses and cry when yelled at by the drill instructor.

 @B6SPXK3Independent from Idaho  answered…2wks2W

I believe that the government should maintain a capable, modern military, while avoiding wasteful or unnecessary spending.

 @B6RJ93F from Idaho  answered…2wks2W

I feel the goverments most important job is to protect us from outside and internal dangers . so it is important to be ahead of the enemys of the nation

 @B6HRSCQ from Idaho  answered…1mo1MO

Decrease, a Majority of that funding could be used to fund Healthcare and social programs, amongst other necessities

 @B5CGXPC from Idaho  answered…4mos4MO

We can increase it for our own protection but for helping other nations I feel like we are at a good spot.

 @B3ZZDXN from Idaho  answered…6mos6MO

We need to adjust spending so theres not a ton of waste but after that i am in support of whatever amount needs spent to have the current military we do

 @B2NZDLD from Idaho  answered…8mos8MO

The funding should increase in times of war but it should decrease now because we are not in much danger.

 @B2G7HFB from Idaho  answered…8mos8MO

I'm fine spending a lot on the military, but there is so much corruption that I want very stringent anti-curroption reviews.

 @ArghhGeeDub  from Idaho  answered…8mos8MO

Decrease, especially ensuring that the lion's share of the spending does not hit military-subsidized private organizations.

 @B2CVYNV from Idaho  answered…8mos8MO

Hold government contractors accountable, review costs, create more competition between competitors for better prices and then revaluate. We can spend the same on the military but every dollar needs to be accounted for and our military needs raises and better VA care.

 @B2CNCKF from Idaho  answered…8mos8MO

I am satisfied with the amount we spend, but i believe there is a lot of waste that goes on that needs to stop

 @B265K2GIndependent  from Idaho  answered…9mos9MO

The current spending is not an issue, but the allocation is. Spending shouldn’t be cut, but should be used efficiently.

 @B23Q7R9 from Idaho  answered…9mos9MO

Im happy with the current spending, unless it to send our resources to wars that has no involvement with us

 @B222KK7 from Idaho  answered…9mos9MO

I support military spending, and progressive developments. If that requires more spending so be it, if not so be it.

 @9ZYDFQT from Idaho  answered…10mos10MO

I believe they should somewhat increase it because sometimes they give our soldiers expired food and better clothing to keep them warm.

 @9ZY73LZ from Idaho  answered…10mos10MO

The Military should spend more responsibly and buy better equipment. Whether those things increase or decrease spending is fine by me.

 @9ZGYJBQLibertarian from Idaho  answered…10mos10MO

We should decrease it a little and give that money to welfare and other programs to help the poor but not seriously cut the budget.

 @9YH8CT3 from Idaho  answered…10mos10MO

decrease, since we currently are not at war or in a major conflict and if we are we should only mediate and not interfere with our soldiers

 @9Y4HLHW from Idaho  answered…10mos10MO

I am ok with the current level of spending but think they could spend more wisely and be more efficient with funds...look into the moving every 3 years thing.

 @9Y3JSZN from Idaho  answered…10mos10MO

Increase or adjust budget to increase wages to a living wage. Our active military members should not have to go on welfare.

 @9WY32W5 from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

Spend money more wisely instead of sending taxpayer dollars to wealthy corporations and their executives

 @9WDLMLK from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

Increase a tad anyway for insured safety, yet only major increases in the stance of war or problems along the lines.

 @9W96SJL from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

The government should actually spend our money on our own military instead of giving billions to other countries.

 @9W6T9LS from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

Increase for the express purpose of combating the obesity epidemic that has caused the military service crisis in the first place.

 @9W6KGTF from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

Have a strong military presence and spend much money on the military. But throwing countries' money in times of war, paying billions in other countries while upping taxes for the people is wrong.

 @9W68WQXNo Labels from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

I think Neither, unless the army has caused severely, expensive or permanent damage to soldiers then they should increase their payment

 @9W5Z4CK from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

the only reason we spend so much is because politicians get kick backs. If government contracts were cheaper we could lower military spending.

 @9VSGH95 from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

Yes, but only towards key factors such as repairing or replacing old and newer technology being able to maintain. Rather than spending on the amount of equipment we use.

 @9VSC6PV from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

Somewhat decrease as we need better systems internally, also we do need better equipment for our troops if we do increase spending.

 @9VQX5LWIndependent from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

Our government should invest in the people they serve but increasing funds for education not forcing unprivileged children to join the military to obtain a higher education.

 @9VP3YS7 from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

Yes, but only for our military. We need to be providing our own military with the recourses needed to protect us and not other militaries.

 @9VM658S from Idaho  answered…11mos11MO

We should spend more if it leads to the common good of the people. But if spending more leads to more the harm of others than it does the good of the people, we should spend less.

 @9VHNSMH from Idaho  answered…12mos12MO

Increase military spending and use the military to actively stop conflicts occurring outside our border(s).

 @9VG9M65 from Idaho  answered…12mos12MO

Reduce wasted spending then determine if a budget decrease would still be effective in reducing the deficit.

 @9VDKMKP from Idaho  answered…12mos12MO

I think that they should have the ability to increase the amount of military spending IF/WHEN it's needed.

 @9TW6QXWRepublican from Idaho  answered…12mos12MO

I feel like if what is being in spent is benefiting our troops the safety of America than it is fine where it is at. If they do not need that much money to ensure that then take some it and put it somewhere else in America.

 @9TPB4X8 from Idaho  answered…12mos12MO

it doesn't matter whether they increase or decrease the spending. Whatever creates more efficiencies.

 @9SYMSJQ from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Right now, I feel we are in a good spot, we aren't in a war so there isn't a need for military spending. So, it can decrease for now. However, if conflicts were to rise and start, then there would need to be an increase in spending.

 @9SRGBY5Constitution from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease, stop government officials from being involved "in bed" with military manufacturing companies

 @9RZQH42 from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

I would say increase, but I'm sure a lot of the vendors the military gets their supplies from mark up the "cost" of items quite a bit to be able to get more money out the military than the products are actually costing.

 @9RV4TYK from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

decrease, especially by not spending billions of dollars on stuff that military officials don't want and that doesn't even work anyway.

 @9RTQ9T2  from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Better allocate monies to pay military members more and provide better mental health services for them.

 @9RR3VLX  from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Military spending should be carefully balanced with the current international climate and future projections, but in general it's better to be over-prepared than under, so military spending should generally increase. Any decrease in the amount of increase should be carefully considered.

 @9RCXSPR from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

We should focus on measuring defense needs and military effectiveness instead of on the amount spent.

 @9R6XTH4 from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Neither, they should be forced to have a public audit to identify where military money is going missing.

 @9MK54ZQConstitution from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

I think we need to invest in cost optimization for the military. The budget is big enough its just spent in frivolous ways.

 @9LYD2PHIndependent from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

We should have multiple third parties gain accurate accounting and there should be a push to cheapen products that are massively marked up

 @9LRGH4N from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Military spending should be reduced to 2% of GDP, meeting the recommended amount in the NATO charter. We should also work with our allies to have them be more prepared to work together, rather than letting the US do all the work.

Although this idea is for a time when it is more peaceful, in our current state I believe defense spending should remain the same.

 @9LN2Y9W from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

I would have said decrease before the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East started. Now I feel we must maintain or increase in order to come out victorious.

 @aboutaweekago  from Idaho  answered…1yr1Y

Reallocate the money to minimize unnecessary foreign military expenditures and increase salaries for enlisted personnel

 @9KN85VP from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, and they need to make sure that the funding is going where it’s actually going to be needed within the military

 @9JVX45Z from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Have a red line of spending that shouldn't be spent unless in emergency the rest goes to programs that need the money.

 @9JLH4H6Independent from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

It depends on where the money goes. Suppose it were to go to the education system and other NEEDED issues then yes. However other mandatory spending needs to be decreased.

 @9JK77L9 from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

It should only increase if the other lacking areas like education and health care can be increased to.

 @9JK2PYG from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

They should spend only as much as they need to protect soldiers and the US people. There are some projects right now that can wait. We shouldn't spend so much money like we are at war or in a crisis.

 @9JCDPDKRepublican from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

we should keep a strong enough military to keep advancing in technology but not so much that it drastically increases its spendings

 @9HQ3CKGPeace and Freedom from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

I believe military spending is fine where its at right now, but the pentagon misplaced $6.2 billion for military funding, we need to focus more on fraud, waste, and abuse rather than supplying billions of dollars to conflicts that have no end goal, like the war in Ukraine. Problems lay within the military and their budgeting, not from the amount they are allocated.

 @9HK5KZHRepublican from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

I believe that as long as we have a military that is well divided and supports all of its employees, while keeping America safe while still having a budget within reason it should stay relatively the same but I am not very educated on this topic

 @9GVLHLN from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Decreasing may make the United States look more vulnerable, but increasing will also increase taxes. It is better to keep it at the current level and increase it in a serious time of conflict.

 @9GT4KTQ from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

considering that we have gone through potential stages of war maybe it could vary like inflation does

 @9GS27PM from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, but not by (relatively) much. and direct that money towards the benefit of the day to day lives of the American people.

 @9GQSTZX from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

The government should only fund military spending that will help us. If they are using the finds for something that does not directly intervene in everyday life then it should not be funded.

 @9GC6VLB from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

It can be increase or decrease meaning if they already have the stuff that they are needing and it has been working for them for awhile it should be fine and having no need for spending but if others of upgraded things that they don't have and they need it they have to spend it so once again it all depends on what goes around and happens in the military

 @9GC59TC from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

If it's necessary to decrease then, decrease. If it's necessary to increase for a war, then increase.

 @9G5CSDD from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

decrease, they should have enough funding to operate effectively but they don't need all that excess with the 20% of the government's budget - this could help with the national debt too

 @9G59LBBRepublican from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

It depends because if we are using this money to help support places like Ukraine then we should not.

 @9G4VG9H from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

We most certainly need our military, but we also should focus on the community. I think it should increase along with another program.

 @9G3NZ9V from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

reduce a bit to help pay off our national debt, then once its stable start putting some it into schools, and the rest into military again.

 @9FXPSQS from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Neither, the current level of spending is sufficient but there needs to be increased focus on cybersecurity and virtual warfare.

 @9FWMDK7 from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

I think the government should lower military spending but only in foreign affairs such as the war in Ukraine.

 @9FSVMJ6 from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

The government needs to do a better job auditing spending and become more efficient with spending and weapon system purchases.

 @9FPZFNFRepublican from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

They should manage what they have better before we even think of giving them more.

 @9FLTZQH from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, while I know that military spending is very important and I am not against it, we are in a lot of debt and there are a lot of matters within America that could be helped through more money. I think we are just overspending based on the rest of our funds.

 @9FGQHPF from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

come back when you have fixed the inherent corruption of the military industrial complex

 @9F65BMK from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9F45L7FIndependent from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

I feel that they should find the right amount that should be spent as long as it's able to keep us safe.

 @9F2VWW4  from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DX8L45 from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DWSWDF from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

It’s important that America remind the worlds number 1 military superpower. However, more funds should be directed towards other programs/services

 @9DS72JD from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Neither, they should only spend money when needed not to just spend money for fun

 @9DL93MH from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DCZNWFLibertarian from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

We need to maintain status as the world's most powerful military but we need tax dollars to fund other things such as healthcare for our people

 @9DBY2YV from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

They should not spend money when it isn't necessary, if there is war then they could increase spending.

 @9DBX3MF from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Rather than focusing on decrease, focus on getting more out of every dollar

 @9D5XJ3TConstitution from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase, and eliminate budget reductions for any leftovers. How can the military be equipped with the best tech available if their budgets keep shrinking every year due to unspent money?

 @9CKG7B9 from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

I think monitoring where the spending goes and reducing waste is a better place to start.

 @9BVKBDR from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Stay the same but stop giving our millinery out as a toy to other country’s

 @9BMRHV9Progressive from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

yes and no they should but not all at once they should slowly start to reduce it because if it happened to fast maybe the enemy country would they gain power and gain leverage which is just not bad

 @9BM62G9 from Idaho  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease, and add that money towards mental and physical matters that Americans are dealing with every day.

 @993J9FC from Idaho  answered…3yrs3Y

 @98F34SC from Idaho  answered…3yrs3Y

Increase military funding and reduce education funding, lets get to a billion in military spending

 @96PCT72Libertarian from Idaho  answered…3yrs3Y

Not if it takes spending away from other public spending, but if we are threatened then yes.

 @96K4773 from Idaho  answered…3yrs3Y

increase only when needed, if we were in a war or are about to go to war with a country who might have an advantage
