I think that this depends. If we are in need of an increase, then we should increase. If we don't need to increase or decrease, just leave it be.

 @8SRMXXS from Utah  commented…4yrs4Y

Increase, but only after our deficit is drastically reduced

Our country is currently the most powerful country in the world, but that may not be the case for long. The increasing threat of China emerging as a superpower on the world stage, the resurgence of Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the rise of terrorism in many countries, the hostilities of North Korea and Iran, etc. all require US intervention. The last time the US refused to get involved in World affairs was back at the end of WW1. The US, UK, France, and Italy defeated the Central Powers of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire. The US was the country that…  Read more

 @jwakleyIndependent from Utah  answered…5yrs5Y

Decrease, we should still maintain a powerful military, but spending is currently excessively high

 @9TCXT4G from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

Leave it the same, however, redirect it on building better equipment, rather than making the same institutionalized weaponry.

 @9CDVG2J from Utah  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease military spending by not giving our money away to non-Democratic countries

 @B74Q63H from Utah  answered…11hrs11H

Freeze at current level until DOD can pass an audit and curb financial malfeasance with military contractors

 @B6TLLGT from Utah  answered…2wks2W

Funding should be reapportioned to provide more funding to military families and social services for military servicemembers

 @B6QMGGS from Utah  answered…3wks3W

We have the strongest military in the world, but we should increase as needed. We should listen to our President.

 @B6N9FJZ from Utah  answered…4wks4W

Only increase during times when the U.S is directly attacked or in war with another country or world power.

 @B6LS6JD from Utah  answered…4wks4W

I believe that the choosing should be based on how much was needed in the past years and to use that to stimate how much will be needed.

 @B6LRWJP from Utah  answered…4wks4W

I think that military spending should adjust according to how likely we are to be in a war with the rest of the world.

 @B694QJ2Independent from Utah  answered…2mos2MO

Military R&D should be increased, while inefficient sectors of the military should be slashed. R&D from the military has historically helped the us consumer

 @B5XC3VJDemocrat from Utah  answered…3mos3MO

when it comes to weapons and stuff, then i think more money isnt that necessary. but for our soldiers, they need more supplies, such as good food.

 @B5SJ9PK from Utah  answered…3mos3MO

in a perfect world we would NOT need military however based on the political climate and who our adversaries are cutting military spending would be a bad idea spend only enough to keep us afloat and better to deal with authoritarian nations but don't overspend at the cost of losing a social safety net.

 @B5RZLDM from Utah  answered…3mos3MO

We need to keep our country safe, not allow U.S. machines to be left in other countries to keep costs low and provide more safety to our country. Tax payers money should go down because the military and government needs to protect their equipment instead of making tax payers pay for the government's and militarys negligence and losses

 @B5F72G4Republican from Utah  answered…4mos4MO

I don't think military spending should be increased or decreased it should just be buying more when they need to and buying less when they don't need

 @B554STH from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

They should decrease it but its unmoral to put a man out of his job for spending reasons without giving him a way to live.

 @B54SN59 from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

It should be more efficiently used, but the amount is ultimately a major part of the world ecosystem, and should not be tampered with until the political climate majorly changes.

 @B53SND6 from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

I think they should allocate the funds inside the military better like giving more to actual troops or better living conditions

 @B53HCRHNo Labels from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

It should be increased when there is a threat or a war going on, but decreased when there is no reason to spend the money.

 @B5322YG from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

Only increase funding if the government can prove undeniably that the military is improving and doing their job.

 @B52FB7CRepublican  from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

Neither, but the money should also go towards their housing and food making sure those things are high quality because they're serving our country.

 @B4XK9ZG from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

I think it's good right now but if it starts to not be enough and the amount has decreased drastically then increase it.

 @B4XDCV4 from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

Neither I am fine with the current expenditure, However we need to make the usage of that money more efficient by bringing industry back to America.

 @B4WCVC3Constitution from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

They should have audits and consequences for failing audits. As well as strict punishments for any corruption. If military money is efficiently spent we should theoretically be able to develop more weapons while spending less money

 @B4TTNW7 from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

Honestly I think everything should have an equal or beneficial amount of spending and weapons should not be such a huge priority.

 @B4S6R53 from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

Decrease, until our deficit is dramatically reduced, and then assess and possibly return to current spending.

 @B4RFWMY from Utah  answered…5mos5MO

Decrease, domestic issues should be the military's only job, with the draft in place for international issues.

 @B4B5FVS from Utah  answered…6mos6MO

Decrease it in offensive sectors and for anything that isn't a major threat far away. However, we should only maintain our defensive military budget and maybe increase it after reducing our national debt and deficits and if we still have major threats worldwide.

 @B49Z79P from Utah  answered…6mos6MO

Increase but put the increase to increasing the base pay of all military members. The lowest ranks should not be paid so little for their service that they qualify for food stamps.

 @B49PPB3  from Utah  answered…6mos6MO

Decrease, by auditing the manufacturers I believe we would be able to get the same we get for less and maybe increase veteran benifits with some of the savings.

 @B49H2R4 from Utah  answered…6mos6MO

Our military budget needs to be focused on america and america primarily. we should not be giving other countries money for their military.

 @B45H73W from Utah  answered…6mos6MO

Decrease for overseas and offensive military spending, but defensive military spending should stay the same and be increased when the US is vulnerable to attack or is getting attacked.

 @B43K32L from Utah  answered…6mos6MO

I think its important that we spend on the military but it depends on what the money is going towards

 @B3M6X4S from Utah  answered…7mos7MO

It should decrease, but still remain a prominent portion of our spending. America cannot afford to be weak militarily when there are threats like China on the rise.

 @B2ZLGMJ from Utah  answered…7mos7MO

Whichever is required to ensure the safety and well-being of the country and not have extreme excess.

 @B2YCKZG from Utah  answered…7mos7MO

Spending should be commiserate with wartime conditions. A base budget to maintain operational readiness and technological advancement is appropriate.

 @B2XZG64 from Utah  answered…7mos7MO

I'm okay with military spending because it keeps us safe. We just need to get out of debt cause its bad.

 @B2VN523 from Utah  answered…7mos7MO

Decrease to a more reasonable amount then we can increase it after America is outta debt to everyone

 @B2LMTB7 from Utah  answered…8mos8MO

Decrease, we cant support the current military spending and fix an imbalanced economy in our current state.

 @B2LC3KH from Utah  answered…8mos8MO

No, we shouldn't even have a military. We don't need to be fighting other countries. Talk it out like adults. Get over yourselves. Stop killing and fighting others when it is 100% unnecessary.

 @B2G7L6C from Utah  answered…8mos8MO

if they just use it for our country than i say yes but i dont think we need to be spending so much on other countries

 @B25KZHN from Utah  answered…9mos9MO

Neither, I am satisfied with the current amount we are spending, but have more transparency on where it is going

 @B24D5LP from Utah  answered…9mos9MO

I don't love it, but I do think we need to maintain our military edge. Whether that means we need to increase or decrease I guess I'm for it.

 @9ZZYZ92 from Utah  answered…9mos9MO

If they increase it, it should be used for important things. If they decrease it stop using what we have on unimportant things.

 @9ZC4GRF from Utah  answered…10mos10MO

Uncertain. I’d rather the US remain the world’s superpower, so I find it hard to be that without spending loads of money on it. We could definitely spend less.

 @9Z4F9VCRepublican from Utah  answered…10mos10MO

It’s hard to say. If the world situation demands more military coverage than yes, but if we’ve plateaued then so should the funding.

 @9YH283V from Utah  answered…10mos10MO

Article 1, section 8, clause 12, of the U.S Constitution limits the power to raise and support armies for a maximum of 2 years. To be in harmony with the intent of this clause increase spending should be the result of a Congressionaly declared war only.

 @9YCQX3G from Utah  answered…10mos10MO

Decrease to what is necessary to stay at the top, reallocate the remaining to better uses for public benefit. Cut out waste, stop overpaying for defense contracts that don't have competition, etc. we need to be more wise with our money

 @9Y2VB9F from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Neither, funding should be addressed by what is the most efficient need, not just spending money on the military because that's what we've always done to put money in defense company's pockets.

 @9XQQHKW from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Adjust it to he wiser financial stewards and encourage mental health services for people and families in the military.

 @9XJCSLQ from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

All for military spending for creating the greatest military, but spend less in other countries business

 @9XFFKD5 from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

The US must stay ahead militarily from the rest of the world. I don't equate this with a specific spending amount. I'm in favor of reducing waste and inefficiencies.

 @9XCHSJH from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Decrease by reducing the amount of bases we have around the world allowing for a few strategic bases.

 @9XCBM6M from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

add what is needed to get us to the best place we can be. stop spending for protection of other countries without their paying for support. take care of the USA first.

 @9X6TB9GDemocrat from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Neither, but the DoD should be required to use part of their budget to better support Vets and active military families

 @9WW3BZNRepublican from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

They should use the military funding to fix the broken system and gun wars going on in the US first. We are not the almighty nation anymore to be spending money sending to foreign wars where we do not have a legitimate stake in it

 @9WSMYCY from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Increase but after current infrastructure programs have been fixed, and it should be spent purly on protection here in the United States not on foreign soil.

 @9WPH8NR from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

I think it's good to have a military that is ready to go so if something does happen we're ready but, I don't think it should be a main thing to focus on.

 @9WNGZDG from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

A change in spending is needed, but transparency is the most important thing here to make those decisions.

 @9WG7QWKWomen’s Equality from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Decrease, let’s focus on solving our own problems before we spend more on assisting military for other countries.

 @9W8JHNP from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

I’m satisfied as it currently is until the threat of war (Israel & Pakistan, Russia & Ukraine) subsides

 @9W6QHVD from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

The military should do a better job of spending their budget wisely and make companies acually compete for their contracts.

 @9W6N5YGNo Labels from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Decrease, because our military is dumping equipment into the ocean to keep their budget high, which is stupid and hurting the environment

 @9W2W6GP from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Government should make some actual goals, set an expected budget to achieve set goals, and stay within that budget reevaluating as needed.

 @9VYHYSZDemocrat from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Decrease slightly, allowing spending on necessary items and training, and limiting spending on unnecessary or over the top items

 @9VWSP8T from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

they need to be held accountable for their spending. be transparent with the public that pays for it

 @9VV3KBN from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

If there is any person who wants to live in freedom, I think we should do for it takes to cause that to happen.

 @9VSB9KV from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

I think that we need to get the higher end weapons so we can be feared but t the same time we cant be spending so much because how much debt we are already in

 @9VRKCB2 from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

Find more cost-effective ways to fund the military and find ways to innovate and reduce military costs.

 @9VPJRV5 from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

taxpayers should be able to know exactly how all of their tax money is being used, then vote on if it should be increased or decreased based on how the government spent it

 @9VP2YM7 from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

They can increase on somethings like on weapons, but they don't need to take a lot of money from people.

 @9VP2JLP from Utah  answered…11mos11MO

I think it shouldn't be any cost at all as for their fighting for our country and defending at all cost in the military

 @9V95SL4 from Utah  answered…12mos12MO

it depends on what if its for more people then I'm not for it but if it's for research or for new tech then I'm for it.

 @9V85T8D from Utah  answered…12mos12MO

Money should be cut from our military and instead used to further the goals of NATO while aligning them with ours

 @9TZY9MX from Utah  answered…12mos12MO

I think maybe decrease just a little bit for certain things. But when needed increase the spending again

 @9TT8GFN from Utah  answered…12mos12MO

Increase only as necessary to have proper equipment, current technology, and well cared for personnel.

 @9TT5F5J from Utah  answered…12mos12MO

Decrease spending and end most spending on foreign military spending and then increase funding for domestic protection.

 @9TL62L8 from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease the spending. 820 Billion down to 700 Billion and put the decrease into programs like homeless and other programs, not new programs.

 @9TCVBT7 from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

I think military should only help those who are allied with NATO and help them and spend money only on allies

 @9SXDWFS from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

Social programs and the military budget take a lot of the people’s money and it could be used more efficiently

 @9SQK54VRepublican from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

There needs to be more accountability in the spending of the budget, however, we support the growing of our military.

 @9SRBDV3  from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

they should have a small but steady increase year to year in order to maintain a standing army and have sufficient defenses in case of attacks against our country.

 @9SMHW8WRepublican from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

I don’t want to increase spending of the war machine. I want to increase spending if it protects our borders

 @9SJ9W98 from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

In the current situation of world politics, it is hard to say if decreasing military spending is a good or bad idea

 @9RSS9M8 from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

Decrease, but decrease should be about not lining private companies' pockets. Many people become rich off of things that aren't necessarily needed while the actual military is not paid well.

 @9RJFMXX from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

Neither, but have better transparency and audit equipment cost. It shouldn't be more than market rate.

 @9QZMTKQ from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

The US Government should allocate more of our military budget directly to our troops, ensuring that they receive top of the line equipment and can afford the basic nessecities of life. Our troops are underpaid, our marines have been using outdated equipment such as our AAVs and Ospreys causing us to lose lives of our military serviceman. I hate that we give so much money to Ukraine, when we could be using that money on modernizing our US Marine Corps, and purchasing safer equipment and better housing conditions for our troops. They are being treated like trash

 @9QX6DZ9Libertarian from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

I think our military is incredible and I would like to see our military spending stay within the country// go to our bases. I don’t think we should be supplying weaponry//funding to other countries military.

 @9QQKT83 from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

I think before they do anything stop sending billions to other countries, quit arming rebels as it tends to backfire, and stop reevaluate the insanely lucrative government contracts they give.

 @9NZ682KProgressive from Utah  answered…1yr1Y

Neither, while I am not satisfied with the current amount of spending I do understand the need for a large military budget and the importance of a strong military used alongside diplomact.
