Yes, but to an extent because we can't spend tons of money on just research just to not get anything done.

The government should not be involved in funding anything because it has the power to corrupt whatever it is put in charge over.

 @Levi-Blevins  from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but they should also provide private companies with strong incentives to do so, since many large companies have more resources that could be spared for it than the federal government does.

More than funding the issue with mental health care is that the people most in need of it can not function within society yet the system is designed by and for normal functional people being structured much like any other aspect of the medical industry in the persuit of profit. It requires reform and restucturing and a temple grandin like approach that considers the perspectives and state of the people it's meant to treat to facilitate their navigation through the system. This however must be balanced against respecting individual rights and not violating personal sovereignty which is the primary issue in helping those who can not help themselves or may not even want help.

Yes, the human mind and soul are very important, and rigorous study to reveal the causes of personal shortcomings will allow the populace to improve their life situation

 @9KX7LDRLibertarian from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

The current mental health community is probably guilty of causing more mental health issues, is definitely guilty of experimenting on children, and needs to be completely defunded.

 @9K4P5YY  from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

No, it'd be nice if the government did contribute, but the government shouldn't be forced to contribute

 @93SYMGC from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if it does not take away from other important funding.

 @92D8L4X from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes because the things they support like being transgender is a form of poor mental health.

 @92D85LL from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

If you want more mental health disorders, increase government funding for their treatments.

 @8Y2QNZ3 from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Privatize the mental healthcare system and let the free market prevail with the best providers succeeding

No, pharmaceutical companies are some of the richest in the world. This funding should instead be invested into a single payer system and universities.

Yes, as long as those funds are given to an organization this is held responsible by the voters, and not to a private company

Mental health is not something the government should be involved in. Everyone is different, we can't treat them like they're all the same

 @98TM5LS from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes. By 1000%. We need far more mental health services and this should be one of our number 1 priorities.

The government has no role in health care; it is strictly a matter between the patient and his/her health care provider. All laws/regulations concerning health care should be repealed.

 @8L7YCX5Independent from Virginia  answered…6yrs6Y

Healthcare is healthcare, regardless of mental or physical and should all be paid for by insurance, or better yet, a one-payer system.

 @8KS8NMC from Virginia  answered…6yrs6Y

Yes, but the funding MUST go to private sector, NOT to typical inefficient and wasteful government run programs.

 @8KCYD3B from Virginia  answered…6yrs6Y

No, private companies should seek funding or charitable organizations should focus their money as they see fit.

 @8T3FSH8 from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes and No, incentivize private companies to address this issue instead our mental healthcare system needs more funding to provide a higher quality of care and services but only increase funding for personalized care instead of subsidizing pharmaceutical companies
