I personally am agnostic and prefer to stay away from religion and I grew up in an atheist household so I dislike the idea that America is a Christian country because there are many people like me who don't identify with religions or there are people with other religions within this country which is why America can't be defined by one religion.

The first amendment protects freedom of religion by stopping the government from making laws about religion, leaving us free to make our own decisions. This is up and upheld by the courts for 200 years and with 2,000 distinct religious groups in the United States. I think we're all safer if we just let people do what they want and don't pick a winner.

prohibits the government from censoring, discriminating against, or applying rules inconsistently to private speech based on its content or viewpoint, a principle known as "viewpoint neutrality"
