No, it is just pandering to African-Americans and creating a victim mentality.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...5yrs5Y

Yes, and we should provide reparations to Black Americans as well

 @8V59M64 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, and end heritage months and designate one month to celebrate all cultures and ethnicities instead put all black people in internment camps

 @8WW82H6 from New York  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, Juneteenth and Emancipation Day should be declared a federal holiday.

 @923VKFZ from Ohio  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, and we should provide reparations to descendants of slaves in the United States.

 @92H9QMZSocialist from Michigan  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, with reparations and each individual type of reparation offered should be put on the ballad to see if the population agrees. Native Americans should also go through the same thing.

 @8VZF7BXSocialist from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

No; how about just declaring the last Thursday & Friday of every month a federal holiday and let people decide for themselves what’s with celebrating.

If we can have National white day.. or emancipation day I understand. But cmon. There are other ways to bring the black race upwards. Like combating institutional racism from the top down.

 @8VGPWNXWomen’s Equality from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but it should be celebrated just like July 4th, it's a day freedom in the US was expanded in a positive way.

 @88WP5BCRepublican from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8V5JWYC from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but we need to do more to address systematic racism. A holiday will not solve that

 @8V4PRQ8 from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

No, because they want to make it a holiday for the wrong reasons. Let the AA have their own thing, there's no need for it to be for everyone. especially people who don't actually care about it.

It is Important, but is should not be confused with the 4th of July/Independence day

 @mrmpiperLibertarianfrom Idaho  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only if it replaces another holiday. That's another day off school for kids and parents who don't work for the government paying more money for daycare.

 @92KMQ63 from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, and end heritage months and designate one month to celebrate all cultures and ethnicities instead blacks are infieror they weakly started civilization they started slavery they started racism they stated tribalism they started war

 @8WZLX84 from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

No, it is a specific holiday for Black Americans to celebrate their freedom from slavery, and if it is a federal holiday, all Americans including those who historically enslaved them will be eligible for a free day off; however, as it is a cultural holiday, the US government should federally recognize it, and require all workplaces to allow Black Americans to take the day off if they choose

 @925W7P5 from Nevada  answered…4yrs4Y

Regardless, I think that this question is mostly self-obsolete; Emancipation Day and Juneteenth are identical - only, Juneteenth is incomprehensible from an outside perspective, whereas the title Emancipation Day at least makes sense.

 @8YCG92Q from South Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

no screw the blacks; they get a month and mlk day, give whites some days

 @8WDQ52P from Missouri  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but Biden took the credit from Trump, Trump was going to pass that holiday but couldn't before the election.

 @8WD6545 from Utah  answered…5yrs5Y

Of course, under the condition that it isn’t used to decry America as a systemically racist place

 @8TDHHGX from Indiana  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes and No. Making it a federal holiday allows for everyone to celebrate what should be a black american owned holiday. Claiming to celebrate it for everyone is unfair, especially when many schools refuse to properly teach about Juneteenth and the struggles of black people through american history.

 @8TCXBYS from Missouri  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8V5LJ97 from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but we should celebrate all cultures and ethnicities instead not just one only.

 @93PCQFD from Colorado  answered…4yrs4Y

Accept it as a cultural holiday and allow black Americans to have PAID time off

 @93NRSBKLibertarian from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes to Juneteenth or Emancipation Day. Get rid of Flag Day, which is silly and has nothing to with freedom.

 @93NPN5GSocialist from South Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

No(because white people get the day off), but Black Americans should receive reparations

 @93MZFJ7Socialist from Tennessee  answered…4yrs4Y

I do not have an opinion, because this should be an issue for people of color

 @93MHD36 from Michigan  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, and add Emancipation Day to the list of national holidays as well

 @93MDBZNLibertarian from Michigan  answered…4yrs4Y

No it's a Holiday from a specific state. Other states can vote on making it a holiday.

 @93M4DQJ from New York  answered…4yrs4Y

 @93LVNPD from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

 @93L6ST5Independent from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

yes, but we should not owe anything to black americans if we had nothing to do with other people’s actions

Only if reparations for Black people and systemic transformations occur that eliminate white supremacy

 @93KNJLNfrom Guam  answered…4yrs4Y

No, and end heritage months and designate one month to celebrate all cultures and ethnicities instead and get rid of mlk day

 @93J33PZ from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

I think celebrating the Emancipation Proclamation would be more worthwhile, either that or simply incorporating black citizens into the festivities at Independance day. We want to celebrate what we have in common, and as it has been used by the Democrats, they have gone out of their way to use it to separate black citizens off from other Americans. We shouldn't have one Independence day for one group and then another for everyone else. That's divisive.

 @billyjackflash25 from Illinois  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, as long as we don't increase the number of paid days off for federal employees.

 @93G364J from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, end end heritage months period. They create more separation and division. Everyone should celebrate their cultures individually whenever they want.

 @93FQQ34 from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

 @93FP597 from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but all heritage months should be transitioned into one month to celebrate all cultures and ethnicities (including Caucasian’s).

 @93DSXPD from Illinois  answered…4yrs4Y

I think that people have capitalized on it like other things to profit off of the pains and messages of identities that are not their own.

 @93DCH95 from New York  answered…4yrs4Y

If we had a better society, we wouldn’t have to celebrate something that should have been the standard

 @93D5R2DLibertarian from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

No, make Emancipation Day a national holiday instead, and making public holidays such as Juneteenth federal holidays offers bias to one group over all others which is unconstitutional. No present-day Black Americans are slaves and all have been free for over 150 years, and do not deserve reparations any more than any other ethnicity in America. The actions of extremist groups in our country should not govern the stereotypes for all other Americans.

 @93D4NMC from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

 @93CCV2L from Ohio  answered…4yrs4Y

Absolutely not. Martin Luther King day is representing. There is no Native Americans dayas a holiday. Natives were the first slaves and genocide victims.

 @939P34TRepublican from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @939JCLJ from Illinois  answered…4yrs4Y

No, we have enough holidays. Meat prices are too high to keep having BBQ’s every month and no one has enough time to rotate their decorations every other week nor the room to keep investing in and storing more decor.

 @92R5MYNDemocrat from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y
