How are you an expert?

 @B6K9PKWProgressive from Illinois  disagreed…2mos2MO

How about 15 years of religious education including a Masters in Divinity which makes me a Christian Reverend? Is that enough for expertise?

Neither God nor Jesus said anything against individuals who formed mutually loving, supportive, enriched partnerships.

The Constitution of the USA DOES however say: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

What God, the Supreme Legislature of the Universe, says is wrong. To him homosexuality is an "abomination." So it is therefore Sin and must be opposed or well will insure his wrath!

Hate is a sin. So is judging others. God is love, which is the opposite of hate, so… I’m thinking you might need to re-read your bible or pick up a new translation. We all fall short of the glory of God in some way (the only human that was ever without sin was Jesus, according to the Bible), but love is love, and it’s beautiful in all forms, shapes, and sizes. And you have no right to speak for God and tell another human being that HIS creation is an abomination. But you’re allowed to be wrong and make mistakes. THIS hateful post of yours was a mistake. I hope you wil…  Read more

While it's true that hate and judgment are considered sins, it's essential to recognize that everyone is entitled to their beliefs. However, it's crucial to approach these discussions with empathy and understanding. Love, in all its forms, should be celebrated and respected. I believe that understanding different interpretations of religious texts can lead to more inclusive and tolerant views.

For instance, some scholars argue that the original context of the biblical passages often cited against same-sex relationships is not as clear-cut as it's made out to be. They sugges…  Read more

There is no evidence of this god, so I have no reason to put any stock in this fiction. Regardless, religion is personal. Combat your own homosexual tendencies, please. If someone else is struggling with homosexuality, let them. It's their journey, not yours. I don't belong in your story any more than you belong in mine.

No evidence? What about the wind and the stars? The fact that we are here having this conversation right now? The very fact that when we breathe, we exclaim His name "YAHWEH?"

 @9TYJFHK from Illinois  disagreed…1yr1Y

If Jehovah exists, he surely isn't the "Supreme Legislature of the Universe".

I have violated his laws before. I am an atheist. I have committed Apostasy from the Catholic Church, albeit prior to when Confirmation would have occurred. Although I am straight, I have violated the Church's teachings on masturbation and such being sinful. I have uttered foul language often enough to make a sailor look wholesome. I have often disrespected my parents, my schools, and the United States Government. I crossdress in public two days a week, on average.

Despite all of this, I have not…  Read more

Ive committed all of the sins you have to the same or a worse degree. I'm also a lesbian.

And same as you there have been no divine intervention. Clearly God's laws are only suggestions and you are in charge of your own life and can live it the way you want.

He will judge you, me, and everyone accordingly on His day. Maybe, just maybe, He has kept you alive so you could meet someone, perhaps with a story similar to yours, that realized Jehovah is the One True God.

I am praying for you, that this might happen.

And the only proof we have of what god says is ancient 2000 year old religious texts that are extremely likely to be tampered with over the course of the centuries it was monopolized for the churches use.

Sin is basically any action, thought, or behavior that goes against God's commandments and moral laws. It's like a spiritual wrong turn that separates us from God's will and purpose for our lives. Think of it as a moral misstep that needs to be corrected to align ourselves with divine teachings.

I can prove he's real – but first I need you to explain where the Laws of Logic came from.

 @9ST7HGX from Texas  commented…1yr1Y

The laws of logic are based on observable evidence and repeatable phenomena. They are rigorously tested and applied practically. Religion is based on faith, or the belief in something greater than yourself. It is a belief because it exists without any evidence, and that's ok. You do not need to prove your god is real; if you could, that would be science. However, if you claim that there is evidence, then your belief is entering the world of science, where everything requires proof. Science and religion do not overlap, and they never will, but they can and should coexist. The key is in recognizing the boundary between the two.
