Yes, politics should be about what the people want and if people don’t participate that can’t happen. This is not the same thing as forcing voting down people’s throats.

Yes, greater participation better reflects the opinions of the people. The United States Constitution begins with the phrase "We the people", referring to those who are living within the land of the United States as citizens. The greater amount of people participating in political decisions, the better our government can actually hear our opinion and take action.
