language is simply a way of communication. if you do not understand, you should strive to communicate in a more effective way. technology has made leaps and bounds in this. utilize it.
The United States has no official language. We are not a melting pot but rather a celebration of differences in culture and language. To have the same language and force it on everyone is wrong.
Because even though I might not understand the language it's still important to be considerate of others and respectful because English may not be their primary language.
Having diverse populations allows for an optimal intermingling of cultures and ideas. No one language need be dominant.
