Why might some people argue that too much government regulation can be a bad thing, and do you agree?

Yes too much government regulation on certain things can be bad. It’s almost like the term “helicopter parent” when they never let their child do anything without parental supervision. The government overshadowing people’s day to day lives causes secrecy and and paranoia amongst those who try and “do the right thing”. Meaning people that do what they can to get by are now being prosecuted and even jailed for trying to survive in a country that doesn’t provided much help. The American live in a free country, not a dictatorship.
