However, if you have the means, you should still change your daily habits. Cultural changes are way more impactful than just changing the law, and often make changing the law easier. Everyone is a part of the cultural equation, so doing your part while still pushing on corporations/governments makes sense.
If you feel discouraged or frustrated at others who are criticizing your life/way of life, take a step back. Not just to reflect and maybe see their point, but also just to give yourself space. The world is complicated, and massive lifestyle changes are extremely difficult. Trying to appease folks who believe in extinction-level apocalyptic consequences is probably not possible. You could do everything they say, and instead of supporting you through what would be an extremely hard part of your life, they would move on, satisfied that they had "convinced" you. Folks advocating for lifestyle changes should be a part of your community supporting you, not rulers who expect you to jump when they say jump.
