Customers and companies should be able to contract under informed consent, and punished if the contract is violated.

Yes, data mining and the unauthorized sale or sharing of all personal data by anyone, anywhere, for any reason, should be felony offenses with exceptionally long mandatory prison sentences.
@9SF6CVX1yr1Y
Personal data should not be connected or taken unless the user signs a full agreement and the agreement states that there could be an action of taking information

I feel that though stricter regulations would help better protect data in certain companies, I also feel that it would have many boundaries on what to use and what not to use, causing a restriction on any further usage.
@B628MY7Libertarian2mos2MO
yes and no. Yes, because usa could intervene on potential threats or people attempting to transmit child pornography etc... i guess it's a more controversial stance. But i would like certain privacy unless its about the children or the welfare of our nation.
@B6286PS2mos2MO
Yes, however there are significantly more important matters regarding regulating social media corporations.
@B55ZFPY5mos5MO
Even if there are, someone still would have out private information regardless of regulations or not. The government is also a little reckless themselves so it doesn't even matter at this point.
@B4FCJW4Republican6mos6MO
No, for the sake of freedom, capitalism, privacy, weak government, federalism, and checks and balances.

I think the government should impose stricter regulations on the collection and use of personal data by companies without interfering with peoples right to privacy.
@B273F4T 9mos9MO
It should be more clear what data is being collected and permission should be given on how it is used.
@9WJJ6FF 11mos11MO
Yes, and require all companies that collect personal data to offer the option to opt out of collection
@9VZDRYK11mos11MO
We have the implied right to privacy, a company residing in the United States should not be able to impede our rights.
@9S6HF5B1yr1Y
Yes and No. Yes in the instance of protecting us from foreign adversaries. No, in the instance of using personal information against citizens
@9RSWXF2Independent1yr1Y
Yes if the companies are misusing the information or have weak systems that are prone to cyberattacks
@9RS2DWZ1yr1Y
Yes, it should always require plain English describing the personal data. The person should be required to be compensated for the data they provide.
@9Q2VMPH1yr1Y
No, because it allows companies to exist that help with that. Adding those regulations would lose people's jobs.
@9PXRTM21yr1Y
Companies should provide detail on how personal information is being collected and provide consumer with the choice to have information collected
@9RYTCZF1yr1Y
Companies should be banned from collecting personal information except in the case of using its product but banned from sharing it with anyone outside of the service requirements.
@9RXYYLK1yr1Y
It is not right for those companies to spy on citizens, and 1.) they should be taken down and 2.) the last thing the people need is more government regulation.
@9Q6RZ651yr1Y
Yes, there's no reason companies you're shopping online at should require I upload my ID and bank information to purchase stuff online.
If it's companies not regulated by a government then probably. I don't really consent to Instagram stealing my information so it's viable to want to implore further regulations.
