The Gulf of Mexico is a large body of water bordering the southeastern United States, Mexico, and parts of Cuba. The proposal to rename it the Gulf of America suggests altering a long-established geographic name, potentially reflecting nationalistic sentiments or differing historical perspectives. Proponents argue that renaming could strengthen U.S. national identity and reflect current geopolitical realities. Opponents argue that it dismisses historical and cultural ties of the surrounding region, risks diplomatic tensions, and undermines the historical name recognized worldwide.

Honestly, I just don't have the mental energy to care about something like renaming the Gulf of Mexico, because my brain is wired to focus on solving real problems, and that's a completely fake one. Changing the name doesn't help a single family pay their bills, it would be a massive and expensive headache to change all the maps, and it feels like a needlessly unfriendly thing to do to our neighbor, Mexico. I'm busy dealing with high-stakes issues in my own life and trying to lead a non-profit that helps people in crisis, so my mind just automatically filters out pointless distractions like this that only create more problems than they solve.

yes, but not for the reasons most would say, the reason I believe it should be changed to Gulf of America, has nothing to do with the country of America, it actually has to do with the fact that the continent that both are delegated to is called North America, therefore proper naming would be Gulf of North America
