If they live in America, work a job, pay taxes, and are trying then everyone else then they are an American citizen, therefore they should be allowed to vote.

 @BDB4CGT from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

They are just as American as we are just because they were not born here does not mean they should not be able to vote.

 @BDD5TD5 from Oregon  commented…2mos2MO

They are Americans too they live here now so why shouldn't be able to vote.

 @BDCYH2M from Utah  disagreed…2mos2MO

It makes sense to give them constitutional rights to protect them, and they should have the right to vote as they are also staying in this land.

 @BDB5H7F from Louisiana  disagreed…2mos2MO

No, since foreigners who have came to the U.S are thus U.S citizens now, and since they now are a part of the land and its history, they should have a say in things

 @BDDDSFVfrom Maryland  disagreed…2mos2MO

If a foreigner resides in this country for a minimum period and pays over a certain threshold of taxes, then they absolutely have a stake in this land and thus should be able to vote.

 @BDDB4WZ from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

They should be able to vote as long as they have maintained residency for 2 years and have been working. If they are living here, and have been they are citizens and should be treated as such.

 @BDFCBM8No Labels from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

People that live in America should be allowed to vote foreigners included as long as they are genuinely living here they have the right to vote.

 @BDCKXG3Democrat from Ohio  disagreed…2mos2MO

if they are graded constitutional rights to protect them then they should be allowed all of the constitutional rights that protect them including voting

 @BDBW7LC from Georgia  disagreed…2mos2MO

If they went out of their way to move here, we can reasonably assume they intend to stay here. Moving is hard, even between states. I know this from personal experience moving between states. Moving to an entirely new country has got to be harder, especially with all the legal hoops to jump through. If they went through the mess to get here, they must really want to be here. They want the United States to be their home, and a desire to partake in the American Dream should be respected. If they pay taxes, there's no question that they've invested in our country.

This argument has eventually led to tragic things in history like dehumanization and and precieving them as "lesser" they should get a right to vote only if they have proved after 10 years they can act accordingly.

 @BDGXQJ4 from Virginia  disagreed…2mos2MO

no matter if people are not born here and have over 20 years being here should still be able to vote

Only US citizens should be allowed to vote for their leaders. US citizens have the right to the land, and the right to elect their leaders. Foreigners have no right to the land, and have no right to elect leaders. However, if they become US citizens and have children, those children have a right to the land, and therefore have a right to elect leaders.

 @BDBMD2K from Nebraska  agreed…2mos2MO

Agree, constitutional rights are those for everyone, but only citizens who have to pay taxes and be affected by politicians should be able to vote.

 @BDB4RKKRepublican from Louisiana  agreed…2mos2MO

I think if you come here ilegal you should be treated as a human but not given all rights as a normal citizen

 @BDBNRBQ from Ohio  agreed…2mos2MO

I partly agree. It makes sense to protect everyone’s rights, but many non-citizens do have a stake since they live, work, and pay taxes here, even if they can’t vote.

 @BDB3CPL from South Carolina  disagreed…2mos2MO

I think everyone should vote, everyone’s a person at the end of the day and entitled to their own opinion. Every vote counts.

 @BDB2N8L from Iowa  disagreed…2mos2MO

It makes sense to give them constitutional rights to protect them, but they shouldn't be able to vote as they presumably have no stake in this land.
