NONE of this is relevant. a woman is her own person, it is her own body, and a man along with EVERYONE else has no right what to tell HER to do with her OWN body. childbirth is hard, and nobody should have to do it if they don't want to.

 @BDD7XPS from California  commented…2mos2MO

A person cannot be forced to support another person using their body. As an example, we do not allow the use of organs from someone who has died without their consent even if that means another person will die.

 @BDCSLWNDemocrat from North Carolina  disagreed…2mos2MO

I think this was well said, but I still agree regardless of how the women conceived she should have the right to abort it as long as it's safe and legal.

 @BDBZDYC from Wisconsin  disagreed…2mos2MO

I think it is a woman's body and she should have the right to choose. Especially in cases of rape, incest, and medical emergencies. But even still, it is her life; she gets to decide.

 @BDCXJRV from Texas  disagreed…2mos2MO

When abortion was legal, it was only legal until a certain time frame (before the 6 weeks end) so it was not killing a human but a fetus. Also, when there are cases where it was after 6 weeks that they wanted to abort, they should be allowed to choose; many mothers die from birth and experience traumatic stress physically and mentally during and after carrying for 9 months which is something not many can do or should be forced to do.

 @BDD8JXJ from Oklahoma  disagreed…2mos2MO

The statement undermines the amount of cases in which an abortion would be more humane and necessary. Pregnancy is a complex process and every one experiences it differently. I should well be within the rights of the child bearer to decide whether they want to go through with delivering a baby. To put that in the hands of anybody else would open up the potential for bias. Who is the deciding person in what constitutes an exception that would lead to an abortion? Are they reasonably qualified to make that decision? Putting that in the hands of some government or political persons would lead…  Read more

it should be a choice, america is all about wanting to be the land of the free but when it comes down to it they want to act like that was not our founding goal, heartbeat or not if a woman cannot pay for a child health and well being, if a woman cannot provided a good stable life for a child, your setting that child up for failure which can lead to worse people in our world than there already is, and yes their is adoption but why should a woman be forced to live with that guilt knowing a part of her is out there somewhere,its unfair to not only her but that child people who want to actually…  Read more

While we can get rid of some unnecessary abortions through education, even when taking multiple precautions during sex, an unwanted pregnancy is still possible. It is unfair for young kids, rape victims, people with health conditions, or anyone with an unwanted pregnancy to be forced to give birth.

 @BDBT3PN  from Wisconsin  disagreed…2mos2MO

It is up to the woman who is growing it in their body to decide. No matter the situation, it is up to the person who has the responsibility of growing the fetus.

 @BDHGGMK from New Hampshire  disagreed…2mos2MO

To expect that sex-ed would prevent rape from happening is absurd. You can be hyper vigilant and still get raped. The fact that people think that being educated on sex will help you with preventing rape is wild.

 @BDD9T9S from Washington D.C.  disagreed…2mos2MO

One major counter-argument is that a fetus is not considered a "person" with legal rights until it can survive outside the womb. This point, known as viability, usually happens much later in pregnancy than a heartbeat. Many people believe that until that point, the most important factor is the bodily autonomy of the pregnant person. Laws that restrict medical choices can prevent individuals from managing their own health and future. Therefore, many argue that the right to make personal medical decisions should belong to the individual rather than the government.

 @BDC74XZ from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

Women’s bodily autonomy is more important than the development of a fetus. It is barbaric to forcefully turn a woman into an unwilling incubator.

 @BDG2MW7 from Pennsylvania  disagreed…2mos2MO

While its true that fetuses develop human brain activity they are still reliant on the mothers body until the mother gives birth. The fetus cannot continue its growth if the mother was not a factor, so if a human is in any situation that they do not want to give birth this is entirely their own choice. As well as this it’s a kind and overall selfless choice. Children put into foster care are more likely to be involved in crime, abuse and addictions.

 @BDBV98T from Oregon  disagreed…2mos2MO

abortion should be the choice of the mother not the government or the doctor and it a person is getting one is because they have a good reason that does not have to be a medical reason.

 @BDBTSSB from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

A baby/fetus/cells who doesn't have a determined future and is a lot of stress on the woman carrying the baby shouldn't really have a choice here, especially since it can't talk and think for itself. The woman should be able to do what's best for her as she obviously wants to abort when she knows she would be not able to take care of the baby and the baby would grow up miserably, when a woman is ready to devote their life to a child let her do it in her own time or else babies when born can be neglected, abused, malnourished, or have serious expensive health issues that could be suffering. A baby is fully developed when they are like 3 or 4 anyways.

 @BDD779Y from Nebraska  disagreed…2mos2MO

The life of the carrier of an unborn child should be favored more, and each and every different situation and reason for abortion is different between carriers. Abortion also means more than simply killing a fetus, as the word abortion means just removing material from the uterus or pelvic area. To support abortion is to support autonomy.

 @BDFFVXQDemocrat from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

I think it still is personal choice due to the fetus not knowing what is happening and the mom will be the affected one

 @BDBTCRH from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

It's up to a woman if she wants to keep HER baby. It's all HER choice because it's HER body. End of discussion.

 @BDBW3VPDemocrat  from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

This stance is not based on true and independent science. The six week heart rate stance is not based on true science but on religiously influenced “science”

 @BDBVK35  from Kansas  disagreed…2mos2MO

My argument would be your body, your choice. You should not be forced to have a child that you do not want. What would happen if you got sexually assaulted? you would have to care for that child but every time you see that child it will remind you of something terrible that happened to you. You will grow to hate that child and neglect them.

 @BDDJVBW from Hawaii  disagreed…2mos2MO

Women are allowed abortion because it's women's body they had the baby they can do whatever they want the men have no say so because they never had kids they did not do all the work its women's body to do what they want with it.

 @BDCZJYJ from Indiana  agreed…2mos2MO

A victim of rape and incest shouldn't have to face the consequence of an action that wasn't their choice. If they wanted to keep the child, that would be good for the child's life, but we shouldn't be forcing victims into that, especially if the victim/mother is a child. Mother's health problems, like ectopic pregnancies are important to take care of as quickly as possible.
However, an abortion shouldn't be a way of birth control. Abortion is a traumatic experience for the mother as well, and should be used sparingly, but never banned. Banning abortion increases illegal, unsafe abortions and will lead to more mothers dying and victims suffering.

 @BDCSTVGRepublican from Kansas  agreed…2mos2MO

I Somewhat agree with this statement. But abortion should be more limited to if the mother was raped or sexually assaulted then an abortion is available.

 @BDDG8QR from California  disagreed…2mos2MO

I believe that any pregnant woman should have the right to do what they want with their offspring, whether it's wanting not to have a child so early or even choosing that they simply doesn't want kids at the moment. It doesn't have to be based on only "extreme cases".
