Kicking out teams because of their government’s politics undermines individual athletes and the spirit of free exchange. Let’s not let state power ruin what should be a people-to-people event.
National security has to come first. Hosting teams from hostile nations should come with strict rules, especially given ongoing tensions. The US has every right to set boundaries, even in sports.
This just sends the wrong message about openness and sportsmanship. The World Cup is supposed to bring people together, not reinforce political walls. Let’s keep politics out of the game and celebrate unity.
This is a missed opportunity for dialogue and cultural exchange. Instead of isolating, why not use sports as a way to build bridges and promote peace, even when governments disagree?
