Property taxes shouldn't exist period. The rights of citizens to own property without the encumbrance of governments true ownership through means of taxes is hypocritical. Nothing is truly owned under our current system. You could create legislation regarding rules for home owners to keep communities in good shape however there are other ways to generate more tax revenue. For example limiting the amount of money sports professionals and owners make and using the rest of the proceeds for local governments to start. A higher progressive tax on income for the mega rich essentially would satisfy this.

Eliminate property tax on primary residence. Only tax rental property. Primary residence should be exempt.

The FairTax should be instituted at every level of government, Federal, State, and Local, eliminating all taxes except for the no exception, single rate, retail sales tax, at each tier.

I think increase it depending on the area and amount of increase not to drastic but, reduce property taxes for those in not the best places and that don't bring in the most income.

No, but once you have paid off the loan and own the property then you should not have to pay any taxes on it.

Sales tax and property tax and every other tax that is is imposed is too much. Condense into one tax and go from there

 @94Z4BRK from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, and property taxes should be eliminated for single family homes

We should reduce property taxes, but I think increasing the sales tax is not a good solution.

 @8H8GG2R from Georgia  answered…6yrs6Y

No, but get rid of school taxes for people who don’t have children. Let them choose to donate. Or make the school tax a tax people who have children pay.

 @8DWQX9TLibertarian from Georgia  answered…6yrs6Y

Yes, because once bought and paid for, your property should be free and clear.

 @96QKV9W from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, actually, we should decrease both, sales tax and property tax. The government doesn't know how to use our money anyway.

No, an increased sales tax would disproportionately affect low-income people who rarely have to pay property taxes.

 @92Q7MDQDemocrat from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

Get rid of property taxes altogether and have the government fund the public school system directly instead of thru a caste / tier system. Get rid of the sales tax and fund programs directly instead of thru tax dollars.

 @8TMFV7P from Georgia  answered…4yrs4Y

No, dramatically reduce government spending and replace the property taxes with a Land Value Tax
