Should the government increase or decrease military spending?

Decrease in times where the military is not an immediate need to the country, and increase when times of war or conflict are presented.

It depends on circumstances. All programs should be continually scrutinized for effectiveness and efficiency.

The military should adopt an isolationist attitude until we can solve our debt crisis. A vote from the people and then congress should be presented before ANY action.

I like being a world leader in military power, but wasteful spending should be reallocated to infrastructure.

Companies such as boeing and whoever makes military equipment etc, should stop overcharging for military made equipment.

Spend more money to take care of those who serve the country. Better insurance, better living conditions, they should not be taxed if they are deployed.

The money should be better spent to reduce waste. The quantity is not the issue, the reallocation and poor financial management is.

The budgets need to be reformed so that if a unit doesn't use their budget it doesn't decrease the next year. This would stop alot of unnecessary spending.

Some spending should decrease, but some should increase. It depends on exactly what the money is going towards.

Procurement is very inefficient. That needs fixing. The US is a force for good. Enemies of the US should fear its military might.

Government spending should decrease or increase depending on the need. If we are in War Times then I feel Military Spending should increase. But if we are in peace time then government spending should decrease.

There should be a redistributing of funding for military spending to increase the welfare of the soldiers and shift spendings from multi-million-dollar equipment to spendings on the foundation of the military, the troops.

The government should only spend how much is fit to defend our country and the countries we are protecting.

Government waste and abuse needs to be addressed. The government does not need to spend MORE money on military, it desperately needs to audit the funds it currently spends.

The funding that is already allocated should have full accountability. Our defense spending into our own uses (not to be donated to another entity for use) may be increased after full accountability is implemented. There should not be lost money.

Neither, allow rollover in all department budgets to prevent use it or lose it spending and to allow higher spending in other departments that need it.

Decrease, AND have an official PUBLIC audit investigation conducted on EXACTLY where and how that budget is being spent, because we are somehow both in MASSIVE debt, but still somehow have the funds to wage unnecessary wars and fund genocides in other countries. (Also, more often than not they treat our Vets very poorly and refuse to help them after being discharged, anyway.)

Decrease but do this by auditing the supply chain and cost of parts/supplies. If the government requires it they should be supplied at wholesale price

Reduce admin bloat first, while decreasing DEI requirements so that we have a capable military first. Then perform audits to recover lost funds being misappropriated to various contractors or foreign subsidiaries. THEN replace current admin with capable peacemakers to instill treaties with Russia and other “enemies” in an attempt to reduce risk of war. THEN increase funding for research into better tech to keep more troops safer, and train troops to be #1 again

I think our military is incredible and I would like to see our military spending stay within the country// go to our bases. I don’t think we should be supplying weaponry//funding to other countries military.

We need to be more responsible with the allocation of the money spent. Veterans all over this country are suffering daily, and need to be helped and supported. We need to stop sending money to fund proxy wars and regimes across the globe.

Restructure & heavily regulate
as well as create funding scources, varible cost will rise indefinintly so the Gov should create hotels, e-commerence, entertainment etc. Taxes should be only for fixed costs & public saftey. All forms of gov should be allowed to start legal and moral income scources that are independent from other businesses.

Military spending should be dictated by need. The military should prepare to defend against existential threats and avoid costly missions that are unlikely to be existential (No regime change unless the U.S. military leaves after toppling the government and is not required to manage the rebuilding phase. Yes to cost-effective proxy wars like Ukraine that represent existential threats to allies in Euurope and on whom we rely for common defense. The Ukrainians are doing their own fighting and need only minimal armament to disarm one of our peer competitors.).

The US military budget is almost 3x more than any of the listed amounts. Yet our service members & families are lacking. Where exactly is this money going? We shouldn't be involving ourselves, needlessly, worldwide. The US has obligations to the world but it's OK to say no sometimes.

Decrease because there is already such a large amount of financial incompetence that occurs and that needs to be fixed. Once that gets fixed spending will decrease naturally.

Yes, contingent on reorienting the military toward the primary objective of protecting the country from foreign threats, protecting our strategic interests worldwide, defending our allies, and removing social engineering from training or culture within the military.
